Oh! for Heaven's sake!!

I don't have enough drama and excitement around here.

Last night I was sitting here at my computer, checking email

and watching my feet swell when all of a sudden there was

a BIG BOOM and this house was plunged into total darkness.

I mean one of those where when the eyes adjust you are

still in total darkness. I felt my way out of the room and

was feeling my way around the rooms, feeling for a

flashlight, candle anything I could make a torch out of.

"Being blind sucks eggs" I told Neil as I made a pass

through the bedroom. "yeah, tell me about it" he shot back.

As I was feeling across the top of the dining table my hand

closed over the most precious item one can own during a

blackout. A FLASHLIGHT! I cannot tell you the joy I felt

when I pushed that button and there was a stream of glorious

light. I lit candles and an oil lamp and Katrina called the utility company.

While we were waiting to be rescued from darkness we all

just wandered from room to room.

I heard noises in my back yard and made my way back there.

One of my neighbor's Pecan trees had dropped a huge limb

smack dab in the middle of my back yard, crushing 2 glass

top tables, my bird feeder, lawn mower, Weber grill, lawn

cart. It had fallen on my car but had narrowly missed my

chimney pot that had been transported from England many

years before.

I'll have to foot the bill for this but it sure would be

nice if the neighbor would just say I'm sorry. So far no

sign of him though.

Guess I'll go back to watching my feet swell now.

I'm sure not going to hold my breath waiting on that apology.
