lawn chemical user neighbor offered me lawn clippings...

My neighbor uses chemicals on his lawn. He weeded and feeded back in the spring and about a month ago sprayed the lawn for bugs. Since he last sprayed over a month ago we've had approximately 4-5 inches of rain.

He mowed today (he's mowed weekly since spraying anything) and bagged up over 10 bags of lawn clippings. Do I take them off his hands for my compost?

Also, I am certain there are some weed seeds despite his chemical use and wanting a grass only lawn. I don't hot compost. Will the weed seeds from bermuda, nutsedge and I'm sure other things be a problem for my pile?

I don't compost lawn clippings from my lawn. Only leaves, coffee grounds and kitchen waste get put in my pile because I KNOW I have bermuda and nutsedge, and crabgrass, and black nightshade, and, and, and.....

I need to let him know something by tomorrow.

Thanks everyone!

Michelle
