I'm kicking myself today

I'm so mad at myself! I was looking over everything today and happened to notice the leaves on both my Oerstedella centradenia looked shiny. When I touched them they were very sticky - not a good sign. Upon closer inspection, the plants were covered in scale. Both plants bloomed this winter, but didn't look all that great. Since these aren't the most attractive plants, I didn't think much about it. I should have. Maybe I would have caught the scale earlier.

I quickly did an inspection of all the other plants and couldn't find any other evidence of infestation. To be on the safe side, a lot of plants went outside for a good spraying. Once the plants go out for the summer everything is going to get nuked.

Anyway, have you found certain plants to be scale magnets and others close by not bothered at all? Since I've been growing orchids I've only found three of these buggers on another plant over a year ago. I have very little experience with them.
