Welcome, it is something that has been present in my experience also.

Like so many other aspects of life, death has been scrubbed up, and moved out of sight as much as possible. I don't think a person needs to dwell on it, but it's not unhealthy to think of mortality once in a while and getting comfortable with the concept that sooner or later you will deal with the proximity of it, and then come face to face with it. It's surely a difficult concept for most humans to face.

In my own lifetime parting with loved ones has gone from a wake in the privacy of the departed's own home amid friends and family to 'renting' the services of a business who will do all the work so nobody has to be too close. I found an old, old obituary in an historical newspaper describing a child who lay in state in what is now my own living room, where people eat popcorn and watch TV.
