Name That Plant!

I need help identifying this plant?

I have had this plant for many years know, I have many of them because people like the way they look,but i would like to know it's real name(has gone with the name of octopus plant for the way it's baby plant are located along the edge of the leaf looking like suckers)

Matt, That's a succulent Euphorbia and a wonderful example of convergent evolution. It's likely from the Old World and is looking in the pink, metaphorically speaking, of health. The leaf drop is a normal cycle, as many of the cactoid Euphorbias grow vestigal leaves in the early part of their growth time.

It is Costus spicatus, an old heirloom plant. It was popular decades ago and common in older neighborhoods but hardly ever sold anymore. Its a very easy ginger, grows in part sun or shade but needs moist soil. It gets a cone like inflorescence that is orange, not as showy as Costus barbatus but still nice.
