It's been a wet spring and this weekend is no exception. I don't really mind sailing or kayaking in the rain, but do draw the line when boomers are about. So the only exercise I've had this weekend is on the bicycle when there has been a short spell of ride-able weather each day. Weather for tomorrow is forecast to be the same as today and the same as yesterday and many days this spring.

The school were I work is adjacent to the local airport. I do consider that fortuitous. I can spend lunch time admiring the planes and such. Such as this beauty that made a stop on last Wednesday.

The fortune of working adjacent to the airport has lost some of it's charm. Yesterday two pilots were practicing flyby's and collided in mid air. They happened to be over the school side of the airport rather that the other side, which is nothing but a cotton field. One plane made a safe landing but the other plane crashed onto the front lawn of the Math/Science building. That just happens to be the building were I work. The pilot didn't make it. Luckily the school was closed for the holiday and no one but the security staff was at school.

Story.

With this weather there's not much to do excect read, watch a dvd, or cook. Methinks I'll cook. I have learnt how to bake a potato on my barbecue grill so will cook outside today. I think I will make some kind of pineapple/pork concoction and serve that over a bed of rice. I will have a glass of homemade sangria with it. It suits my tropical mood at the moment.

Methinks I need to build an outdoor kitchen. Cooking indoors in the summer increased the power bill. It takes electricity to cook, and more electricity to cool down the kitchen from all the cooking.

Off to reasearch plans for outdoor kitchens. The web makes it ever so easy.

If I get too bored, I may end up doing some writing. I guess I am in a monsoonal mode, which is just as well, hurricane season kicks off next week.

It's cold. Really cold. As in we're hoping to get up to +1ÂºF. And then there's the wind chill. Lots of newscasts have been spent reviewing frost bite avoidance techniques. But the state seems to be giggling conspiratorially about the cold, ever since the Cowboys lost, rendering Lambeau the venue for Sunday's big game. Wisconsinites imagine the oh-my-goodness-you-gotta-be-freakin-kidding-me frigidity is going to give us an edge. Like we're somehow impervious to it. There's a lot of group reminiscing going on about the "Ice Bowl" --- a game that neither St. Brett nor I was alive for. Honestly, when I moved to ATL and discovered how Southerners behaved around college football, I thought I'd seen the epitome of crazy. They don't hold a candle to frothed-up cheeseheads. But I like it. I love running errands around town in the midst of Packer-mania. I don't bother with wearing a coat if I'm popping in and out of a lot of places, but those who do are wearing green and gold almost exclusively. And I watch them nod and grin at one another. Perfect strangers are asking one another where they're watching the game. And the obligatory greeting "Cold enough for you?" has been replaced with "Think we can make it any colder for those *@ New Yorkers?" I really like the feel of this united group mania. Would that we'd been this unified and involved when the legislature was slogging through the budget impasse last fall, but I'll take it where I can get it. Tonight is pork schnitzel... but I think tomorrow has to be chili... with a big pile of cheese on top. Speaking of cheese, did I ever post the taken last September? (I added the sunglasses on my BIL.) Gotta love it! And even though football doesn't necessarily make it to the list of top 100 things I love, GO PACK. ;o)

Almost the same. Free today even though it's coatch-(can't do endash Michelle) pitch baseball, because of the rain, and free next Saturday (good, since next is gradauation, and he'll attend, which is really really good (graduation walk is only for HIM to realize graduating is ultracool)). Some house projects finished for remodeling, all grocery shopping done for the month, laundry for the week, one test for which I'll study, and all while cleaning the house. Menus left and wardrobe for the week left to get ironed. I got new brakes (Miata) today; I figured $500-$600 and it was $585 and change (close enough). Bought and ate scallops, mmmm, (really supposed to be a shrimp dish. It's a traditionally Spanish (truly... not pseudo Spanish- (again, no endash) Mexican) tapas. It's so easy and really every mouthful is oh my gosh delicious. I also decided to make a dessert. And chose my lace cookies which always turns out to be java almond brickle. I give. I'll call it that and be done. But this time.... it wouldn't fit, so I had to eat enough to close the container. And since school is over, I'll be back around. Almost the same. Almost. But yours is better. I am just glad I can focus on the "last half of busy" that I complained was too hard before (thanks guys for shoving), as I "only" have to remodel the house and sell it (I'd draw an incredibly wry smile if I knew how).

Sometimes after living on the edge for eons.......a routine feels comforting, like chicken soup. For those of us whose bodies awaken, but it takes the brain an hour or two to kick in (the reverse is also true.......when the body stops to rest the mind keeps ticking) if it weren't for a morning routine the day would start noonish. The key to the conundrum is to change routines often. LOL.

Soon as I get better pics than I have taken. This ipod touch doesn't have a flash. It takes pictures in low light but they're not that good. This is from a week ago, aged two weeks. And yes, she does have faucets for eight.

Good set-up, Dan! I'll make do with my beat-up gas-grill on my beat-up redwood deck, but I do have the "grill monster" (Joann) do the cooking for me, that's a definite plus.

Oh I am so jealous! I love outdoor kitchens and that one is ideal Don. I wwwwwaaannnnttt one (((whine, whine, whine))). I will have one! but for now I have to finish the house I am working on, and that is very very soon.

Speaking of which, the house will go on the market in about 90 days or so. The realtor comes tonight to decide a reasonable price. What's left? The handyman has to put the French doors in the bedroom, leading out into the connecting office. Daddy and I will work on cutting off the water pipes/capping them, and then Susie and I will rip out its floor, then David and I will install a floor. Some more paint and the bedroom will be done. The living room is done, finished it over the past weekend. Paint the utility room ceiling and have bro finish the one outlet, and it's done. LF's room only needs to be painted. The hall needs a couple of panels put up and it's done. Tweaking here and there, but mostly, it's done. Chapter closing and moving on. It'll be good. I am worried about where we'll end up because I can't see a definite plan, but I will have one soon and be settled enough to be happy. Hopefully Angela will know of a house that is cheap and I can fix up. With an outdoor kitchen :)

I am glad to be back at work as I worked for the past 5 days straight on the house. I ache all over. I did go to the doctor (4 specialist appointments in three weeks, tomorrow is the last one). I have a spot they're waiting and watching, a different place than before. I am sick to death of cancer. It's not worry, just frustration at being told, wait and watch, or having to spend time having the next test done. I doubt I'll ever get to go a full year and "just have checkups", as I seem to be prone to cancer and cancer-like ailments. Just more motivaiton to lose the last pounds. What can I, y'all already knew I was screwy :)
