Spiranthes sinensis grow quickly after potting--why?

We have some naturally occurring Spiranthes sinensis in our lawn that we're moving to make room for a garden. Some of the better specimens we've moved into small planting pots, while some of the areas of lawn that are heavily populated we dug out in their entirety and moved to planters. The parts that are now in planters resemble the lawn itself, but the flowers that we put in the smaller pots are generally growing much more quickly. Can anyone explain this? Thanks!
