Not a problem! I wouldn't be a dedicated veggie gardener if I didn't push the limits! Don't we all? I'm really pleased with the light ouput of the 3 compact fluorescent bulbs. I have no doubt I could grow herbs and stuff under it. The lights do raise to 24" above the growing surface. I am also pleased that the temp at the growing surface is about 75 F. So, if light and temps are good, I have a shot at a cuc or two. I have to mention these are pricey gadgets. I got mine near 75% off due to sale and some coupons I had. I don't think I'd pay $200. Nifty gadget, though. Great introduction to hydroponics. The main attraction to me is the absense of fungus gnats. I'll post pix as the cucs grow (and grow and grow!) Beth

Well Denise, That IS how I'm doing it, not coverting them from mix, rather starting them from scratch in the Leca/hydro. The Numm above is a sprig I pinched from a small soil growing one I have. The Bella I forgot, from you or Cena, or I forget where, but it's NEVER seen soil (it's only 3 tiny sprigs, but still). I was a bad girl today & nicked some cuttings (stole really, slapping my own hand here!!) from a greenhouse I know which is affiliated w/ a Hospital & where they do horticultural work w/ burn victims. I know them to have numerous Hoyas there, including some Lacunosa which I no longer have. I could not stop myself & nicked some pieces. I just put them in water to root & think I'm going to try 1/2 of them water rooting & 1/2 of them leca/hydro rooting. This greenhouse has the standard Hoyas, multiple Carnosas, Lacunosa, a Pubicalyx (guessing it to be Pink Splash, or Silver Pink, whatever that's called); also climbing up the greenhouse roof I saw leaves of sone large speckly Pubicalyx & leaves of Kerri, whose potted plant I never did find. But today I noticed pots labeled of Imperialis & one other less common one that I've forgotten, maybe Macgillivrai. The Lacunosa from which I swiped had an umbel budding up. Greenhouse visiting sure perked me up, I bought a bunch of plants (shouldn't have, but they were cart jumpers) A gorgeous Polyscias Ming - big & well grown -- $14 Pretty burgundy & white blooming African violet -- $3 2 small Fittonias, unsual coloring, one red veined on green, one the palest yellow green rimmed w/ darker green -- -- 2 for $1 One plain Jade plant (gonna try one more time) just a few inches tall One Portulacaria afra variegate (3" tall) (I've killed lots of these) -- these 2 for $1 So you see why I couldn't resist, beautiful plants, 6 of them for a whopping $19. Wooo-hooo, the Ming alone (6" pot, 4 thick little trees of it) is worth more than that!!! Happy greened up Karen!
