Give your 10323 longer legs
Comments (26)I still think the reason the 'Variable Speed' 10323s are slow is that they came with the engine set slow. Another problem is, it's common for people to set the throttle too far forward and engage the choke, which also makes them run bad and slow (same thing on the 10550). I set mine about four clicks higher and it was fine. What I didn't like about it was the drive bail was very awkward and uncomfortable to use. I also have 'Variable Speed' on my 4-cycle 10684 and the speed is fine - what a sweet mower to use. You could check the ratios by roughly counting the pulley turns required to turn the axle once. You can get more exact results by counting the pulley turns for ten revolutions of the axle, then dividing by ten to get pretty close to the ratio. The trick is accurately estimating that final fraction of a turn - figure it as per cent and show it as a decimal - 40% would be .40....See MoreChanging belt on Lawn-Boy Mower
Comments (5)The engine is set up to come up off the deck without taking any controls or anything off. The problem is, the pulley is between the engine and the muffler plate. Remove the blade, mulch fan and blade driver. Remove the belt cover. You should now be able to see the pulley on the crankshaft. You have to raise the engine up out of the muffler plate so you can get the new belt over the end of the crank. I think this requires taking off the muffler cover and removing the muffler plate bolts, then the engine-to-deck bolts. Have somebody there to hold the engine up while you slip the belt on. Then you can put it on the trans pulley. You're going to get dirty, but should have no problems doing it. Mind the exhaust gasket and make sure it's positioned right before bolting on the muffler plate. This is an excellent opportunity to check the exhaust ports and lower crank seal as well as cleaning out the muffler. Maybe it's simpler than this but that's what I think you have to do....See MoreLawnboy 10684 belt slipping
Comments (2)The drive cable housing is stripped of it's black plastic sheath and clamped to the handle just down from the bail. Loosening that clamp and moving the cable housing up or down is the adjustment. You want it just tight enough that the drive wheels don't turn when held off the ground - this prevents pull-back drag. This should give you about 3/4" - 1" free play on the bail. Have you checked under the mower for possible oil contamination from the lower seal?...See More'New' Lawn Boy 10323 - My wife will be mad....
Comments (15)first of all there should be NO movement when you grab the crank anyone that say's different should take up collecting stamps because they have no idea what they are taking about.as far as the dura force engine when you have the engine off of the mower deck take out the crank seal on the blade side off and see what kind of movement you have if you see the inner race of the crank bearing move then the problem is the bearing spun in the case and now you have play the older LB had a tab on the bearings to keep them from moving the duraforce does not.i worked on about six so far and everyone of them spun the bearing....See Morelbpod
