Its really odd. Common cranes

Pictures in the paper this A.M. and on the news this evening. Leone and I went out to the river to see if we could see them but didn't. There are at least three common cranes with the 1000's of sandhill cranes near here.

The common crane is an eurasian crane and the fish and game dept. is scratching their collective heads over this. How did these endangered birds get here on the Platte river.

When I first heard them talk about the common crane I thought they were referring to the sandhill crane which is cetainly common here but no, there is a species called the common crane.

The cranes will porobably be around for another 10 to 15 days, would sure like to spot these visitors. There are reports of some whooping cranes mixed in with the sandhills but the powers that be are very secretive about their location, I suppose to protect these majestic birds.

Think we may go out at sunrise in the A.M. to see if we can spot these birds.
