Hedera helix

To me, looks like a very mature specimen of the genus Hedera helix, or English ivy. I am familiar with a yellow flower in very old plants, but not the red precursor in to the berry in this picture.
That's my story (possibly to be refuted!) and I'm stickin' with it.

H. hibernica - one of the worst weeds in this area. There are no ivy-like locally native plants, ivy is totally foreign to this region.

I think it's Hedera helix which produces this shape leaf in the arboreal phase, ie when it reaches the top of its support. The developing fruit in the photo look exactly like the berries which cover my shed every year and are beloved of pigeons especially. Curiously, if you take a cutting of the arboreal phase it will retain that foliage and not revert to its climbing guise. You can then grow yourself an ivy 'tree'.

Anybody know the difference between H helix and H hibernica? The picture doesn't look quite right for the mature Hedera helix I've seen, but I'm not familiar with the other one and I don't see much information about it online.

H. helix produces different hairs on the leaves, but the more apparent differences are that it produces smaller, more deeply lobed leaves than H. hibernica. Both grow as weeds out here, but H. hibernica is the smothering, Kudzu-like English ivy of Seattle, Tacoma and Portland.

Some authors split them as H. helix ssp. helix and H. helix ssp. hibernica.
