Does any one know if I can use ceramic material supplies, ie: calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, potassium sulfate, iron oxide, etc. as mineral supplements for my plants?
I purchase them in 50 lb. bags for mixing glazes, so they are cheap and available, but I dont know if they will release into the soil and be available to the plants in these forms. I know that epsom salts are commonly used for the magnesium, but I believe they are more soluble than carbonate forms of the minerals.
I also keep reading about using kaolin as an insect deterrent, I buy that by the ton !
