This came in my mail today. This two-letter word in English has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that word is 'UP.' It is listed in the dictionary as an [adv], [prep], [adj], [n] or [v]. It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting, why does a topic comeUP? Why do we speak UP, and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends, brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. Welock UP the house and fix UP the old car. At other times this little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special. And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP ! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look UP the word UP in the dictionary.. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4 of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP . When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP. When it rains, it soaks UP the earth. When it does not rain for awhile, things dry UP. One could go on & on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now ........my time is UP ! Oh....one more thing: What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night? U P ! I think all of us come up getting books for as cheaply as possible. However, I do love books, so, to have a brand new hardcover was always worth a lot to me and I didn't mind paying the price. I often read a soft cover or free copy and then when I found it to be a classic for me, I'd go and buy the hardcover. I recently published a novel on Amazon's kindle and was shocked by all the free books. What a turn of perspective! Rather ironic... now that I had spent all that time writing and rewriting, I did want to make some money at it as well--and all the free choices made it seem like I would not, could not. Even at $2.99 I thought many might not risk a writer they'd never heard of. Perhaps that will play out to be true, though it is doing well enough for a new author. I now spend my own good money on any book I choose. I may look for a good deal, but I also want to support art and now have a better consideration of what 'poor artist' means. LOL. On Amazon, at least, there are three formulas of BugGeta. Not all have metaldehyde. This is the one I used-- it says the active ingredient is Sulfur. A review says this: "A number of new products popped up on shelves these days for snail and slug control to replace classic but poisonous metaldehyde ingredient. The new products are made using iron phosphate, ferric sodium EDTA, and sulfur. Iron phosphate is a very popular new ingredient, and more recently studies found that ferric sodium EDTA is even better and kills faster than iron phosphate, so this showed up in products such as the familiar Corry's brand. Now this Ortho sulfur based product is the most recent formula that I've come across. Sulfur is one of the oldest insecticides people have used, and sulfur is used for organic production. Mine reflexes its petals back at the edges soon after opening, as seen in the pics pat_bamaz7 previously posted in this thread back in September. There are several related "musk roses" beyond 'R. moschata' that it could be, in addition to hybrids thereof. The yellow centers to which you refer are actually the stamens and anthers, rather than a true yellow center on the petals. How separate they appear will change with respect to the angle of the picture. Before dismissing 'R. brunonii' completely as a possibility, look also at 'La Mortola', which is a seedling of it. This pic especially resembles yours. Ignore the yellower shade to the leaves on your plant. If it came from Palatine, it's on Multiflora rootstock, and that is prone to chlorosis in alkaline and/or iron-deficient soil -- as well as while getting established. Instead look at the shape and size of the leaflets. They do look rather similar, don't they? :-) ~Christopher
