This article was in the local paper here just the other day.

I found the McCormick spice info interesting. Sort of an archaeology of the spice cupboard LOL. I know my mom has many of the old tins and some of her spices have to be at least 30-40 years old as they were 'inherited' from her mom.

Most of our 'volatile' spices are stored in the freezer.

One thing I don't understand is the 40 month shelf life for distilled vinegar. How does vinegar spoil? Websites I found suggest vinegar is non-perishable and I would certainly believe that to be true.
