Being a tourist in your hometown

Do you ever do that? I never have. I always feel guilty about not being able to comment on the Grand Ole Opry or go around wearing cowboy boots/shirts on a consistent basis. Sometimes though. It's really not where Nashvillans go or what we wear daily. But it's certainly the perception. I sorta gave the old tourist try yesterday. Broadway is a tourist area of Nashville. It's filled with old and new architechture just like any town. From the old Union Station for trains to Tootsie's orchid lounge. I did notice we have an awful lot of buildings with painting on them. There are advertisments and actual paintings. Even some ordained which look like Graffiti! We ate at Rippy's a place frequented by those attending the Somet center or the stadium. It's where the Predators hockey and Tennessee Titans play games. Obviously, it's pretty good barbeque. We also went to Printer's Alley. I'm guessing, that it was our red light district at some point because it feels like you are in New Orleans and has strip clubs. It's certainly not typical of the many churches around Nashville. Oddly enough, if you look at the slide show, one of the best high schools in a really old building (was it a jail?!) that looks like a prison or jail. Or a castle. I can't decide.

Where would you go, what would you do if you were a tourist in your town?
