I can't take credit for being so super intelligent to figure something like that out! But in trying (in vain) to search something else a few months back I came across a thread with a title complaining of missing files coming up with a search, and someone else kindly mentioned how to get around it. So this time around, I felt I will place it out there, if no one requires it, then it can float to the bottom of the pile! I'm always searching at this forum - would hate to be without that capability! Thanks for the sundrops!

I showed the name of the .pst file as "Outlook.pst" but in actuality it could be anything. Here on my home 'puter, the OS is Windows XP Pro, and I have Microsoft Office XP Pro. I use Outlook, not Outlook Express, for my e-mail. By default, the "folder" in which my mail resides is named "Outlook.pst." But, if I were to create another .pst for storing/archiving/sorting messages, I could name it whatever I desired. Even though a .pst is referred to as a mail "folder" it is not the same type of folder as the folders you go through to get to the .pst. So, if you've created additional "Personal Folders Files" (also known as "Outlook Data Files"), you will see more than one "file" in the Outlook folder. In this screen shot, you will see only one .pst file: If I were using Outlook 2003, the icon for the .pst would look something like this: If you're having difficulty seeing the .pst files, change your View setting to "Details." That way, you will be able to see the "Type" and you can look for "Office Data File" or "Outlook Data File."

Shaddy, Move all of the messages you want to keep from the inbox and then do this. How to delete inbox/outbox files NB: Email program has to be closed. 1) Click on Start/Find/Files or Folders 2) Ensure you have c:\ selected in 'Look in' 3) Type in inbox.idx and click 'find now' 4) Ensure you can see the correct file by checking in 'in folder' so you can see if it's an outlook express or internet mail file etc 5) Right click on the file and select delete. 6) Change the search to look for inbox.mbx and click 'find now' 7) Repeat steps 4 and 5 8) Restart the PC The same procedure applies to outbox.mbx and outbox.idx

WELL! How Ruuuude was that? I used Buehl's suggestion to add: 'site:ths.gardenweb.com' and 'Overwhelmed'. to my Google search and the very first site on the search was my post...Thank you Buehl! I was thrilled because I knew there were responses there that I wanted to make sure to acknowledge but I couldn't find that post. Sure enough, there it was. So I went to the bottom of that post and it looked exactly like these posts here tonight (this morning). I went ahead and typed a lengthy, I mean...Long, very long, mini-novel style post with a few pics. Everything went exactly as it does when I post here. I previewed my message, looked good. I clicked "Submit Message" and nothing. Just an hour glass that went round and round. Finally I got the message that said my post was on the Kitchen forum and it had the blue link to take me back to the forum. I clicked the link, I ended up back here. I've now gone through all four pages of questions/posts and mine is not here. I've refreshed, shut down this page, brought it back up, cleared cookies...nope, not here. Nothing like typing up a really long post and have it end up somewhere out there in CyberLand. *big sigh* Rude, I tell ya. Just rude.
