How to get the previous screen back?

All of a sudden the bar that was always at the bottom of the screen is missing. Along with the little square that you put your cursor on to change the size of the screen at the right hand corner.

You guys are pretty knowledgeable about computers, so I thought I'd ask here. I have used the computer forums on other sites and never had much luck with them - they get carried away with explanations that are so confusing I never could figure them out.

did you reboot? that's always the first thing to try. Is the Start button still at the bottom? If so right click that,then click on properties then click on taskbar which is one of the tabs on the top of the menu. When that comes up,click on "keep the taskbar on top of other windows." That should do it. If you can't get to your start button,just push the Windows key on your keyboard and it will come up. If this doesn't do it there are other things you can try.

Yes, I just rebooted now, hoping the box would reappear. No such luck. I did the task bar thing, but it's not the top of the window that is screwed up, it's the bottom.

"LOL" Cboy yep I am quick for sure. Ha! I followed your instructions and then I rebooted to make sure those icons would stay in place. Before I posted here I wanted to make sure that everything was working normal, after I rebooted walla those icons came back. "Smiles" Thank you so much for your help. This was a simple fix but I didn't know it at the time. I right clicked on the desktop to find that the backround had been changed, so I changed that but I had forgotten how to get the icons back. I still don't know how the backround got changed and my right clicking on the desktop was a stab in the dark, but when I did that I remembered to check the backround and that is when I discovered that what I was thinking was a white screen turned out to be an internet wallpaper backround. Myself I don't like that even being there, it gives you a false impression of something being wrong because it shows a white screen with gray lines. Thanks cboy for all of your help and I will post on the other thread a thank you to those who stepped in to help me. I have always trusted this forum for the wonderful help that you all provide. thirdfrt!!!

just stretch it to the size you like I usually hold CTRL down and press N a couple times once I have my window just right... then close them with the little x. Next windows open to the same size.

In essence you "jack up" the wall (undermine it and then have posts put underneath), dig out enough room to allow for concrete. Lay vapour barrier and then fill with concrete. Allow to cure and remove the posts. It is not a DIY project.

I just realized I must have worded my post incorrectly. It's not the task bar at the bottom of the whole screen that is missing, it's the bar at the bottom of the open window. The one you can slide back and forth to read the whole screen, if necessary.

Sounds to me like you have hit F11 or up on the view on the toolbar have hit 'full screen'. You are in full screen mode. You should be able to just drag your cursor up as high as you can to the top of the page. On my puter, when you do this, you will see the ghost of your old toolbar, and the max/min window will still be up there. Hit it. You should be back to normal.

No, my window is not in full screen mode. It only covers part of the desktop which is the way I like it.

All the other internet pages have the bottom scroll bar, except the gardenweb. That's what I'm trying to get restored. Also, the lower right-hand corner isn't usable to make the screen larger or smaller. Nobody seems to understand what I'm talking about.

It sounds like what you are saying is that your GP page is opened part way and you are still missing the bar at the bottom. The little square you are talking about is at the top of my window and nothing is on the bottom except the bar. You have two options you can try.You haven't said anything about the tool bar on top so I'm guessing it's there. If so, click on "view" and click on tool bars and make sure "status bar" is checked If it isn't,that bottom bar will disappear from your GP window. See if that works for you.

Well, your advice was helpful - the square at the right-hand corner is restored, but the status bar is still missing.

I even emailed the GW webmasters and they suggested clicking on VIEW and going from there - no help.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and I even went back to the Internet Explorer browser to see if it was the same there and it was. Thanks for all your help. Maybe it will reappear as easily as it disappeared...lol
