Spring Forward

Is four weeks earlier this year. I just read a reminder in the Washington Post that in 2005 Congress changed the date and it comes into effect this year.

March 11th - Spring forward. This might actually cause more of a mess than they thought 2000 would, but didnt.

It's going to be chaotic for doing international businesses: Conference calls with other countries. People will be logging in too early or too late or whatever.

And my Dad will be calling in the middle of the night or something, for a month, until Europe changes to summertime too.

Oy.

Lilo, you got it exactly right! My bedtime is usually ten o'clock--suddenly it was eleven o'clock. I had lost an hour's sleep just by turning the clock ahead. Unfortunately, it was also a night where I couldn't fall asleep, so lost another two hours! When it came time to get up and get ready for early church--it didn't happen. Thank goodness, the service was shown on our computer, so I was able to attend without attending. I can sense a nap in the next hour and an early bedtime, tonight.

helptxgal, I don't exactly know why we set our clocks forward/backward one hour each spring/fall. I think it originally started because it made the most of the daylight hours on the family farms that were the way of life for most folks way back when. It sure does mess up the circadian rhythm twice a year!

It doesn't change too much for me, as I am not obliged to keep any schedule by the clock. The animals don't tell clock-time, but they know when the food is going to be served, so instead of around 4 o'clock I just feed them at 5 o'clock or thereabouts. I keep it pretty flexible, because sometimes there may be company or a project that can't be interrupted, so they'll have to wait.
Longer evening on nice days will give Joann and me the opportunity the have our wine on the deck - that is nice.

OmGosh. If I ever even knew that, I'd forgotten and mucho thanks for the head's up. Personally I think changing clocks is nonsense, but just having it moved up some will seem like spring is arriving faster. It makes sense as well to have it come closer to an equinox. I wonder how they arrived at that date? Do you know?

I do know the time change comes on a different date in Great Britain than in the states and that has caused some problems in this family with communicating back and forth, because nobody on either side remembers when the other side changes. LOL.

Like Lilo, my day begins according to the sun/the animals/ and when and if my plants need irrigated early before heat hits. In this house, we don't even bother to change the clocks over. Just remembering to add or subtract an hour one way or another and we always refer to standard time as "real" time. My g'children who are of the techy generation always come and think they are doing me a service by correcting the time but it really messes me up.

Yipee....no matter when I get up it's always dark but to have it light when I'm eating dinner and then being able to still go outside..yes!!

I one of those people who hates dark mornings, so that's thte dsownside. However, having it light after 6:00 PM will be nic3.
