Help ID 3 shrubs for novice gardener in Northern VA

Hi, I am a novice gardener, so please forgive my ignorance!

Shrub 1 is my troublemaker--an evergreen that is very thin in the middle, has torn-off, crossing, and thick dead stems at the base, and looks particularly unattractive at the front door. Should I prune back severely now? Wait until later in the summer? Rip it out and start anew?

Shrub 2 has some black spots on the leaves that appeared only this spring.

Shrub 3 is lovely--I just want to know if I should prune the old growth or leave it.

Thanks!
