Did Daniel Vosovic's Dress Look Like an Orchid to You?

Okay...

Anyone catch Runway last night?

Well...Daniel chose a white phal as his inspiration for a dress he made. I didn't quite follow what he was trying to do. The top and the skirt really didn't make me think phal. What did you guys think?

I really liked Andre's dress. I could have understood it without asking him any questions. The dress was elegant. I was also really impressed that he was inspired by something that the average person would not have thought twice about--a gutter with dirty water.

I'm glad Zulema got the axe. Her red dress didn't even fit the model's boobs and looked like she could have bought it off the rack.

I think that Kara Janx could be in real trouble next week.

OH! ...and the one time Santino could have been himself (grafitti inspired dress), he chose to tone it down...Hmm..Do you guys think he'll make the finals?

I could *kind of* see what Daniel was trying to do. The top was trying to mimic the full roundness of the white phal flower and the skirt was very sleek and plain like the bloom spike. That said, I still think Andrae should have won. In comparing his dress to his photo I could immediately "get it." Plus, he definitely made $100 look like a million.

I was cheering when Zulema got the axe. Serves her right for the drama she caused with the models. I also think Kara is next, but you never know. As for Santino, if he does make the finals it is only because he makes for good TV.

I didn't think Daniel's dress particularly "looked" like the orchid (a ho-hum Phalaenopsis) but I really liked the dress anyway. Andrae's was really great, too and I wouldn't have been surprised if the judges had awarded a tie. In fact, they should have since winning the individual competitions doesn't mean a thing in the end.

Yeah, Zulema's really fell short but I was sure Kara was going to get the boot for her jersey yawn. Zulema's dress would have fit fine had the model been born with four boobs.

I lost a lot of respect for Nick during his whole post-model-theft drama episode. Please. It's a competition and you just DEAL. Girlina, Please. I loved it when Tim said the dumped model looked like an elongated marshmallow.

Looks like they're setting it up for Tim to catch Santino impersonating him next week. Damn right I'll tune in!!

I'm embarrassed to show these pics of what happens to my house over winter, but it works. Not perfect, but the best I can do until the days lengthen and the sun grows stronger. West windows with some Southern sun. Quite cold as the windows are old and not insulated. I move Phals and other warm growers to a small office under lights when the night temps get too low. I've registered 50 degrees near the windows at night. I use octopus floor lamps. This photo was taken in Oct. By Dec. I have added 4 more octopus units. I use a combo of 23W and 30W. Each lamp holds 4-6 lights. I put the lights so close to the plants, some leaves get burnt. This is the small, warm room I put plants which can't get too cold in there until the nights warm up. I do move many back and forth depending on the weather. It is not a good set-up, but I get the Phals to bloom and other plants to continue spiking. The photo does not show all the plants and lights. As soon as possible they get moved back to the living room. I don't worry about humidity. I do run a few humidifiers in each room, but the large room rarely gets above 20%. I also close the shades at night to prevent too much of a draft on the plants. Cool growers love the set-up. Many of the Cattleyas and hybrids can take temps quite low. The Phals will rot if kept too cold. It can be done and the octopus lamps can be positioned so the lights are not shining in your eyes. Jane

DH likes to dress up for Beggars Night. Last year he was Tom Brady - Brady jersey, Patriots sweatpants, and one of those gisnt knee braces. No one seemed to "get it". This year he's going to be a Viking - kilt, medieval-looking shirt, plastic Viking helmet with horns and blond braids, plastic sword. I'm going to wear my black woolen cloak over regular black clothes and my "Sabbat-go-to-meeting" hat that someone made for me - it's your standard pointy witch's hat festooned with fake flowers, lace, trailing bits of organza. It's amusing, to say the least. No Samhain party this year: I put my foot down and said that if the rest of the circle wants gatherings they can get off their @$$es and organize one, but I'm tired of chasing people and nagging them about whether they're coming, what they're bringing for potluck (so we don't have eight bags of chips and no actual food).

Sidnee, I have the dress you have chosen and love it! I wore it to my neice's wedding last June and it was so comfortable. The fit is wonderful, it is a very "forgiving" dress, kind of hides the flaws lol. My best friend chose it as the MOB dress for her daughter's wedding 2 years ago, but in the long version. Glad you found your dress!

I know of a way to make a real difference without cutting up a perfectly good gown, and other wedding accessories on the nightly news some months ago. Brides against breast cancer. They take donations of modern gowns from 2000 or more recent! Here is the website http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/ Mine is still in it's preserved box, after 26 years and no daughter or grandchildren to wear it. Dunno what I'll do with it some day. Is there much interest in the beaded and sequined high neck, long sleeve gown of the 80's these days!!!

There more I think about Daniel's dress the more I don't like it. The top looks like a potato sack fitted with spandex at the neckline and waist.

Just watched the end of that episode again. I think Daniel's top has potential but a little more work is needed. Maybe rein it in a little more so it looks more like a collar.

Also, when Nick gave Daniel the full-on kiss after Daniel went back stage it really chapped my chappables. He's mine, dammit or at least Andrae's. I'm really starting to dislike Nick.

Did you go to the Bravo site by any chance and see the video of Santino impersonating Tim singing Nine Inch Nails' "Closer?" It's got value.
