I would not use Roundup now. If you didn't use Roundup originally, some of the old grass will grow back. If you want to kill the old grass, you need to do that before scalping. Scalping gradually will leave most of the old grass alive but perhaps a bit stressed. Scalping from full height all in one mowing will kill some, but not all. How many seeds do you still have? Do you have neough to kill the whole lawn and start over? Is that what you're proposing? Or are you suggesting spot spraying Roundup as you see the old grass recovering? Keep in mind that the grass needs to be growing actively for Roundup to work, you need to wait a few days after using Roundup to reseed and you need to give the new seed time to establish. If you kill the existing lawn before reseeding, you have a period of time where your lawn is dead, but you're completely replacing it with the new grasses. If you don't kill the existing lawn first, you'll get a lawn that has some of the old grass and some of the new grass. If you periodically reseed with the new grasses, they'll come to dominate, but the only way to ensure a complete replacement is to kill the old lawn first.

Average germination time for astilbe is 21-60 days, any seedlings appearing within that time frame would be considered the norm. Your Bayer product/imidacloprid was overkill and I hope you didn't mean you sprayed this in an enclosed environment, like indoors. Imidacloprid isn't appropriate treatment for gnats. It's use outdoors is even in question given the possible consequences to bees and pollinators. A very effective safe for you/your seedlings approach would have been to use BTi - Bacillus thuringiensis israelenis - for fungus gnat and mosquito larvae. But it was too soon to assume fungus gnat larvae were feeding on seedling roots.

Keriann- these haven't been pinched and they are growing very stocky. They are 'Peach Butterfly' from park. I usually buy all my impatiens for the beds but these are for baskets- so I wanted something different. They were planted the first of Feb- I'm actually shocked that they are this dense- must be the variety? Only fertilized once with MG but the potting mix has the usual fertilizer that they all want to put in everything now. Here are some coleus just transplanted that are not on the mat- temps are rising now and don't need it thank goodness. They were on it though. If I was only allowed to grow one herb for cooking, I'd be torn between basil and summer savory. You always hear savory called "the bean herb" (snap & dried) and it does go nicely with them. For a super-quick salad/side veggie, drain & rinse a can of white beans or chickpeas. Toss with minced or dried summer savory, olive oil, 2-3 tablespoons of minced onion and a couple cloves of minced garlic. Crazy-easy and so, so good. I toss on quite a bit when I make hummus, too, instead of parsley. Savory's also fantastic in split pea soup and great with tuna. I use it alot with pasta, cream soups, and in pretty much anything with cheese or eggs. One of my favorite breakfasts is creamed eggs on toast: Slice or chop hard-cooked eggs. Make a medium white sauce and season with minced summer savory, a bit of dry mustard, salt & pepper. Add eggs and serve over toast. To me, it has a fresh, sweet, green taste with a faint peppery bite. Actually, I don't think there's anything I wouldn't put it in. Once you develop a taste for it, you've gotta have it!
