Well, I've never been to Texas so these are really just suggestions, but the first one looks like Duchesnea indica, Indian Strawberry; the second one might be Heal All or Self Heal, Prunus vulgaris, although I'm not so sure about that one. And the last one certainly looks like a honeysuckle; you sometimes see those lobed leaves on Japanese honeysuckle, so maybe you get them on the shrubby ones, too. If it was around here I'd say it was either Lonicera morrowii or L. tatarica, both of which are introduced (and invasive); you probably have them but maybe this is a different one I'm not familiar with. did you take it from a shady nursery ... and slam it into full blinding sun which is also reflected by a blinding white wall ... when you buy a new plant.. you need to HARDEN IT OFF to new sunlight .... so i suspect transport shock ... and i agree.. the pot itself.. at a min.. needs to be shaded ... never forget.. you can have a pot in full shade.. and the plant in sun ... the black pot itself.. can heat ridiculously in sun ... and it will.. for lack of a better term.. bake off the water.. before the plant can use it ... i would move it to full but bright shade for a while.. and maintain perfect water ... i jsut came fromt eh garden clinic forumn.. so my answer is in that flavor ... lol .. but .... we still dont have an Id.. but if it end up a houseplant.. there is a good forum for such ... ken ps: looks like fresh media.. did you transplant it .. and then throw it out in full sun.. add transplant shock ... always give a repotted plant.. a week or two.. to get the roots pumping.. before you take it back into full sun ....

It's my understanding that Liriodendron tulipefera got the common name of "tulip tree" because the shape of the leaves resembles the shape of a tulip blossom in side profile. I too have no idea what tree people are talking about when they say Tulip Tree on these forums, until I read on to get some context. This leads to a common mis-identification I see around here, which is calling anyone of the "Little Girl" hybrid Magnolias(Jane, Anne, Susan, Pinkie, Ricki, Betty, Judy, and Randy) a Saucer Magnolia(which is a hybrid between Lilly Magnolia(Magnolia liliflora) and Yulan Magnolia(M. denudata)) or calling them a Lilly Magnolia(M. liliflora), but they are all hybrids between Lilly Magnolia (M. liliflora) and Star Magnolia(M. stellata). I often see these mis-identifications actually printed on the tags as well. Two trees which nursery people around here seem to lump together are Ostrya virginiana and Carpinus caroliniana, which they refer to interchangeably as Hornbeam(leaving out the "Hop" part for Ostrya) or Ironwood. Another one is calling Shumard Oak(Quercus shumardii) Southern Red Oak(Q. falcata) or simply Red Oak(typically Q. rubra).

I live near Haddonfield, in Camden county, NJ and am trying my hand at growing figs for the first time this year. I got one tree (variety unknown - maybe Celeste?) at a local farmer's market last September. Per instructions I left it outside 'til the leaves fell and then wintered it over in the basement - but it started growing! Anxious to get it in the ground I made the mistake of planting it in the side yard (western exposure) in early April. We'd had some quite warm weather that fooled me into thinking spring had come early. It had not. The tree suffered terribly in a windstorm with sustained winds over 40 mph and the snow that hit a week later. losing all its leaves and killing the growing tips of all the shoots. The good news is that the tree sprouted new shoots from four of the five "trunks". It is now doing just fine and enjoying a bit of a growth spurt, although I'll be surprised if it yields any fruit this season. Today I purchased a second fig tree. This one is a Hardy Chicago from Lowe's. I put it into a 12" plastic pot where it will stay for at least the first year or so. I plan on bringing this one into my enclosed but unheated porch next winter. A friend and neighbor also has a fig tree of unknown variety that has survived one winter outdoors. I'll try and get a cutting or two from her to plant next year. I look forward to seeing which one performs best for me.
