what kind of melon is this?

Hi,

A friend gave us a melon (said it was some kind of Korean melon) which I've grown from the seeds, but I've never figured out what it is, and if it is edible. The vine is very hardy, the leaves never grew mold, and it climbed onto my other trees. It's slightly larger than the small seedless watermelons. Inside, the seeds are black. The segments are dry/moist and white with a hint of yellow.

If somebody can help me identify what this is, that would be great! From the first melon, I've grown several other ones over the years, but I've always been curious as to what it is.

thanks,

Walter Hsueh
