What type of grassy weed?

For ten years my lawn has looked great with a lot of hard work including pulling weeds by hand instead of using Weed and Feed. Now my lawn is being overtaken, by what I think is a grassy weed. Most of it comes in patches about one foot in diameter, but there are other areas that have different footprint patterns. The weeds look like nice thick grass, however, it is a much lighter color green and have very thin blades, and when I grab a handfull and pull it up it is very easy to pull, as if I were pulling up grub infested grass, but no grubs are present. The weed also seemed to not like the Ortho clover killer when I applied that over parts of the lawn that had clover. It showed signs of stress and some of it actually died, leaving mass patches of thick dead grass.

Does anyone know what kind of weed this is and what can I do to control it? Will using Weed and Feed on a regular basis help?

Thanks,

Dave
