Bentgrass lawn

I'm in the process of overseeding bentgrass into my lawn here in SE WI. I did half the front lawn already... used a lawnmower dethatching blade to rip out all of the existing thatch, raked it up, and then gently raked the bentgrass seed into the soil.. did this 10 days ago, but seem to only have germination under the shade of the maple tree. I plan to do the other half of the front yard this week when more seed arrives... temperatures look ideal, highs in the 70s to around 80 and lows in the 50s to around 60. I'm wondering if the lack of germination is due to the soil drying too much in the direct sunlight. I'm wondering how long I should wait to be sure the seed isn't going to germinate and dump more seed in those areas?

I'm wondering when is the appropriate time to mow the existing grass so it don't shade out the new bentgrass seedlings? Eventually I'm expecting the bentgrass to crowd out the existing grass... also I don't know what type of grass is currently growing there.

Later in August, I plan to do the backyard with the same overseeding regime.
