mixing centipede and St. Augustine

I have a St. Augustine lawn that was sodded in 9 years ago. Most of my lawn is pretty shady, but I do have one area out by the road that is hot and dry. Every year we lose the grass out there, no matter what we do/spray, etc. This year, our yard mowing people offered to replace some of the grass out there and this was done as we were leaving for vacation. We came back from vacation, and the new grass looks great. The only problem is, it is centipede grass. I don't know what to do about this, since the centipede is obviously very happy there, and looks better than any St. Augustine ever has in that particular area.

Am I going to have a maintenance nightmare if I leave the centipede in? Also, is it going to look strange to have two different kinds of grass in my lawn? The purist in me wants to take it out and replace it with St. Augustine, but in 9 years we haven't been able to make St. Augustine work in this particular area. Suggestions?
