My fall decorations...lots of pics

I gave the chair a new paint job.. it was hot pink!! Took Karen's idea and put a bow on my concrete rabbit. And borrowed gram_nh's idea of painting 6 x 6 left overs to look like pumpkins.. they still need stems and maybe a leaf or two. A fall wreath and a hat for my bear (idea taken from Kirk and Carol)!!! What ya think??

I like the idea of the (4x4's)? Cute idea. Could also do a green one for ole frankenstein. Sure looks like kitty is a little jealous of the attention your fall deco is getting. Thanks for posting pix. Gives me another idea to work with.

I think those babies still have some growing time if you're trying to duplicate supermarket celery. Figure three months in containers followed by three months in the ground. Right now the outer stalks are perfectly harvestable. If you want fat tight bunches, try using hair scrunchines in a few weeks. Better than rubber bands.

I do!!! I live in Florida and can't even imagine not being able to walk out the door and not hear my waterfalls. Very often, when I walk out on my porch and hear the water running, I think it is raining until I remember it's the pond and look out to see it is bright sunshine and not rain after all. Right now my pond is just as clear as it is in summer and the fish are swimming and cavorting as usual waiting for that handout. But everything around it is brown and dead. Those lily pots in the bottom are in full view and not nearly as pretty as those pads and blooms on them in the spring and summer. I can hardly wait and thank goodness I don't have to wait quite as long as some of you do. And I am not trying to be mean. Glenda

Hi Hunter! I have a weather station in a cold spot in yard and the coldest temperature it has recorded so far is 42F. Other nearby weather stations recorded 44F so I guess my yard is a little bit cooler (I wish it wasnt true!). I had to take in a lot of plants today because the forecast is really cold. Saturday is suppose to get to 33F so it looks like this year we will get our first frost a month earlier than the time we got our first frost last year. Hopefully we get the cold over with in early winter and things warm up for late winter and spring! My Plumeria was a big challenge to take inside today, it stands at over 10 feet tall right now! I remember 3 years ago when I got it as a 1 foot tall stick. Banana trees and bamboo is a good sign of a nice climate! My Velutina is doing good. The bananas never really did ripen enough to eat, but I guess the seeds are somewhere on the ground. The pup outgrew the mother plant this year and It has some more pups on its way! I'll probably dig it up this year since its still small, but I'll keep it in the ground next winter. Thanks for looking! Im glad you liked the pics! -Alex

Don, I don't mean to sound smug about it, but my attitude is that only HALF of the growing Season here is over - - and it is a long way to our first hard freeze in January. Sure, if you can find plants at a Nursery that carries seedlings for those goof-balls like me who want to grow a Fall crop (our Numbers are growing every year!). I both started seeds in early July, as well as purchased gallon sized plants from Yamagami's Nursery in Cupertino to jump start things. The exposed sidewalls of the containers warm in the Fall and Winter Sun, so this helps growing in cooler weather versus in-ground growing - - but in the LA area, in-ground should be fine as well. If you are near Torrance, check out Laurel's Nursery, as she specializes in tomato plants. I am sure you can find other sources in the LA area for Fall tomato plants too. Raybo

Your kitty is lovely. Does he/she like having his pic taken. Mine does. I like the 4x4 pumpkins, very clever. A dowel rod could be cut down for a stem.

Love how you painted the chair! Very pretty job. And what a great idea for the 4x4 pieces! Simple but very cute. Your wreath is gorgeous. Love that ribbon running through it. I really like what you did with the bear too. And you have a very pretty kitty too!

Your wreath is lovely! Pumpkin seems to think she is part of the decor, and I agree. Glad you let Stone Bunny get spiffed up for the holidays, lol. And I totally adore the bear in the hat. That is delightful.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! Fall is my favorite season! I love all of your decorations! Your home is always so inviting! You know what I think of your bear! He REALLY needs to come visit our home in the Pacific Northwest! Maybe you could send him my way for the Secret Santa Exchange! LOL I really like the "hair" and hat! I had to spray my straw hat (on Bart the Bear) this year with deer repellent because the deer were nibbling it! Thanks for sharing great stuff! BEAR HUGS! Kirk

Thanks everyone!! I love decorating for fall almost as much as I love decorating for Christmas!
The pumkins were easy to make only took a few hours. They are left over pieces that have been sitting in the wood pile for a couple of years. I just sponged on orange paint and painted some details. Then I coated them with sealer. The idea actually came from some made by gram nh, she posted them last year... it took me a whole year to do them!! LOL!!!
Kirk, glad to see you pop in. I fear the postage would be way too much! He's actually falling apart and can't be moved. Something has been eating him from the inside out. I'm glad he made it one more year. Where are your decos for this year?? We need pictures.

Ms Pumpkin is a lady cat and she just likes laying in the sun when she can sneak outsid... she is kept inside most of the time... very spoiled!

I have added a basket of silk flowers to my iron chair.. still need a new flag pole to put the flag out.

Haven't been here in forever...well, feels that way! Sometimes life gets in the way of web time! What a kick to see the 4x4 idea brought up again. It was actually an idea from a gal on TolePainting, but I found them fun and "quick" and easy! Kinda like the 6x6's better. They make for a chunkier pumpkin. Have a day to myself...I think...and am going to spend it here.

Love the color on that chair...can you give us the name of it?

You put everything together so nicely.
