When to expect pomegranates to start fruiting?

I thought I posted this but could not find my message.. maybe I forget to click past the preview mode again.

I was hoping someone could tell me what to expect from my pomegranate trees I bough this spring. Pomegranate is one fruit I've never planted before so I am unfamiliar with its seasonal cycle.

The two small trees, more saplings really, that I bought were Parfianka and Sharp Velvet. I repotted both in larger 2 gallon pots and both seem to have been growing well.

Parfianka started at 1 1/2 ft tall, and blossomed 3 blooms but each fell off after a few days with no fruit forthcoming. The leaves are still green but just this past week 90% of Sharp Velvet's leaves turned yellow and fell off. Velvet started off around 2 1/2 ft tall and never had any blossoms yet.

So is it normal for both these varieties to lose their leaves in the fall and how long should I expect to wait before the trees begin to fruit?

thanks!
