I need help! Light green grass spots all over my lawn
Comments (10)One more test you can do is drag your fingers though it like you are trying to comb it. See if you detect "runners" called stolons. If so, I'd be pretty confident that it is poa trivialis. It's unusual for it to be spread out in patches like you have, but that might occur if the lawn has been aerated or verticut/thatched. If it is triv, the only thing that has worked for me is to cut it out and patch with sod. Maybe others have a different diagnosis or better remedy....See MorePatches of clover/chickweed takign over lawn
Comments (5)Ortho makes a product that specifically targets those two weeds, its called Ortho Weed B Gon Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis Killer. Roundup is a non-specific vegetation killer and thus will kill the clover and chickweed, but everything you spray as well. Keep the good grass, kill the weeds, use the targeted product. If you do not already have a 2 gallon sprayer from which to mix up from concentrate, then buy one, they are cheap and allow you to do large areas quickly. Forget the expensive 32 ounce spray bottles. A $25 sprayer and concentrated versions of Wed-B-Gone, and other formulas (including Roundup) will pay for itself in a season easy....See MoreLight green patches on lawn
Comments (7)Well I guess you didn't figure it out, but I took a look at the pic. Closeups of the grass would be helpful, but from what I see I am guessing those light green areas are poa trivialis, a grass noted for it's presence in spring and fall, that spreads via stolons. It could also be poa annua, but again, without a closeup it is difficult to tell. Does the lighter grass look different than the darker grass? If it's not different then it is probably a soil issue....See MoreAny idea what this plant/weed is that has appeared all over my lawn?
Comments (10)There were so many, we dug them all out but I stuck one in a pot to see if it would grow so we could identify it. Apparently, it will not so this photo is of the dying plant! So, the stalk of the plant isn't red, but green with red fuzz. The stalks of the young leaves are red though. I had a look over the neighbours fence and don't see anything similar but there is a thriving climber so it might be hidden. Thank you for your help....See Moredgreen97
