I can help you out. Use the Bermuda Bible with 2 modifications.

1. Just like Bermuda, make your first fertilizer application just after the grass greens up in spring. Then 8 to 10 weeks later add another application of straight slow release urea fertilizer just like Bermuda. That is it for the year until next spring.

2. Mow at the appropriate height for your Zoysia

There you go.

TW, since this is new sod, should I go ahead and fertilize as if it was just greening up for spring, or skip this one and hit it in 8 weeks. Also, when is it ok to apply insecticide to new sod.

I have a fear of losing the Zoysia to insects/disease, mostly due to it's slow recovery. I lost my St. Augustine last year due to grubs. They were really bad for some reason and quite a few folks in my neighborhood were dealing with them. I took the opportunity to kill the remaining St.Augustine and re-sod with Zoysia. So to answer your question, there's no indication of insect issues, just want to prevent any.

What kind of Zoysia?

White grubs are about the only pest that will attack Zoysia. If you have an infestation by all means treat you lawn. But before you do confirm you have a problem before using insecticides.

I have Zorro Zoysia.
