I rolled my new seed too much. Now what?
Comments (4)Yes, I used a pretty good bit of hay. Your response makes me feel a lot better, and this afternoon I actually noticed that more grass was coming up. I think patience and water, water, water are the best course of action. Should the hay be completely covering so you can't see the ground? Also, the soil is pretty much clay with a little top soil mixed in, another reason I was concerned the seed was burried. Lastly, should I worry about overwatering? I'm giving it a thorough soaking a couple times a day. Thanks so much !!...See MoreRoll in/walk in fescue seed
Comments (3)You're in a good location for KBG, here's my recommendation: Mow your lawn very short, scalp it if you can. Top dress it with compost, then drop drop the KBG seed at a heavy rate (5 lbs per 1,000 for faster coverage)rake your lawn slighly, then water every day for the next 3 weeks. The KBG seed is VERY small, so basically disappears before your eyes, getting every where in you lawn - awesome for overseeding projects. The variaty for overseeding tall fescue in your neck of the woods is Midnight Star KBG. It's very dark green, and spreads very nicely during the growing season. You can buy a 50 lbs bag of Midnight Star for about $150 from Southern Seeds in Middlesex, NC. I hope this helps....See MoreVollroth Jelly roll discolored after being in dishwasher, normal?
Comments (5)I think aluminum discolors in the dishwasher. Doesn't affect performance, just appearance. From Surfa's: Vollrath Cookie Sheet Aluminum 17"x14" Item: 32392 Vollrath Cookie Aluminum Sheet 17"x14". Heavy-10 gauge 3004 aluminum heats rapidly and evenly. Available here in an aluminum finish. Rated Highly Recommended in the June 2005 issue of Cook's Illustrated. Please note: Due to a printing error, Cook's Illustrated lists this as "steel", however the actual item rated is aluminum. Comments (4)Having just gone through 2 seeding jobs in the past few weeks, my observation has been that while leaving the seed uncovered works, covering the seed results in significantly better germination and establishment. The difference may be less in cooler temps....See Moreauteck
