Comments (32)Emtek Burgundy name is not new, but I'm not sure when they changed it - it's been at least 2 years (the last time I looked at their website). We've been in our home 6 years and ordered interior and exterior hardware by Emtek - it was not called Burgundy at the time. Maybe ORB? I'd have to pull tickets. Anyway, the levers are all okay - dark enough to look ORB, but the front door handles. O.M.G. BURGUNDY. They haven't changed all that much over the years either. They were special order, so not returnable (local store), and to be honest I was tired of 9 months of daily building decisions, so just kept them. Emtek probably had to change the name to let people know it really was Burgundy. I'm sure they had a lot of unhappy customers....See MoreTRANE XL15c new install loud WHUMP on start up
Comments (17)You have a few problems working against you. 1. Package equipment is best suited for commercial roof top or along side of building with duct lead off thru the walls or roof top. 2. When it comes to rooftop installations Commercial roof tops can be 30 feet tall / noise typically doesn't matter as much. (you're not there to sleep.) So these problems could be the reason for it. Package units tend to be a bit noisy. Quiet is a non describable term in HVAC world, because any unit while running will make 'some' noise. Soft blow versus hard blow can be a combination of duct work and blower speed up to including the size of the unit. (A larger unit requires more air.) Your 3.5 ton needs about 1400 CFM of air. If your duct system can not handle this air flow this can cause not only noises but also detrimental system problems. (Excessive Static Pressure). Can cause the unit to shake, in some cases violently depending on how bad the problem is. Mounting the package unit to the roof. Anything that vibrates will cause noise. If this noise (vibration) comes in contact with various structure related parts it will travel the lengths of these structure parts and more or less have an echo type effect through out the structure in the worst cases....See MoreWhy is my home making loud banging sounds when it's not cold?
Comments (5)If your pipes are banging, there are ways to fix this. You may have water hammer. It's hard on the plumbing and can eventually cause leaks and pipe failure. Look under your sinks, especially the kitchen. Is there a vertical stub of pipe coming off the supply lines, about 6" tall that goes nowhere but just ends in a cap? This is supposed to be full of air as a cushion. However the air dissolves slowly into the water. Every couple of years you have to drain them out. Shut off the water to the house and drain ALL the pipes by opening the lowest faucets in the house. Also open higher ones like shower heads. Leave it a few minutes to get those stubs drained. If your house doesn't have these, they can be added. If you have loose pipes, they should be clamped down because again, movement is bad for them in addition to being annoying....See MoreLoud gurgling sound from Jacuzzi drain when toilet fleshed
Comments (20)The consensus is obviously that there is a venting issue and I fully agree since other than the noise there seems to be no other problems like clogging or even slow drains. Yet it seems to unblock a vent is the same procedure as unblocking a drain and in fact it seems to be somewhat easier in many cases since there is easier access to vents in many cases. So I am puzzled why someone has commented: "Sulfuric acid won't fix your problem". I am asking this only for the sake of curiosity and not to actually wanting to use the sulfuric acid. If sulfuric acid is used to unclog drains why can't it be used to unclog vents? Thanks for your enlightening comments....See More1saxman
