I have seen cute ideas with potting benches that may look nice for you too. How about adding some hooks and hanging garden tools, extra pots, gloves etc.

i like ur ideas "imjustsam"... it looks like it had a long mirror in it at one time but the top board is missing...that is what i thought "bright" why would someone throw this cute thing away!! linda ty for turning my pic upright!

Looks like it may have been a man's valet chair in some past life. I'm thinking I'm gonna like it's future life much better! Great find.

What a great find. Looks like it may have been a hall tree at one time.

I can see it with a crackle coat white finish and maybe some sort of chimes hanging from it, or even some lattice in the center. You could hang all sorts of do dads on the lattice or plant a clematis at the base of it and let it grow up the whole thing. You could use is as a bench or to display a container planting.

If you use it for a trellis, a coat of bright paint might be nice too, depending on your style.

Depending on where you'll put it is what you hang on it. If you put it around your back door, you hang a sign, WIPE UR PAWS, with muddy paw prints up & down the upright boards. The front door sign says, "welcome friends".
On your porch to change from gardening shoes to house shoes, your sign could read, "tushy here - shoes underneath".
Oooohh! so many ideas so little time. It's a great piece and I can't wait to see your new creation.

AWESOME find! You can't go wrong with this beautiful piece! I like your idea of cutting a hole in it and then planting. And I like the idea of you painting it...how about a nice moss or sage green and then how adding some bamboo poles (vertically) across the back (instead of lattice work) ... you would need to add a board where the missing top board was located. Whatever you do, please share...it will be very cool! Have fun! Jeanne S.

Kathy, you have sure turned up the creative heat on this one!! Cant believe some of the stuff people throw away!! How about some hen and chicks in the "hole planter" and some chicken wire across the back to hang chicken stuff on!! Paint it white or red(maybe with some checkerboards) and add some cute stencils of roosters, hen and chicks with maybe a few statues next to the planter or as finials on the top of the posts? OK, whose next w/ their idea??? blessings-sherri

wow so many wonderful ideas!! now to get the drive to actually do something with it..anyone got some drive they can send me? lol..i will have to sand it by hand..my sander died on me..looks like such a big project to do..need some drive!

I had to laugh at your plant being tied with a bow...I do the same thing with my plants...

This year I even tied my peonies together..they spread out and smother other plants.

My house plants are all tied up too...lol

thank you nj!...pattico..i understand completely..had to tie the "snake plant"(if that is what it is..please if im wrong someone correct me!)because i dont want the leaves to break off..i keep it in the house in the winter and take it out in the summer..
