I have a scheff from my grandmothers funeral. It has several offspring from it. It was once about 5 feet tall when I whacked them back and made cuttings into more plants.

I also have a miniature jade from a friend. I almost lost it once. Had to start over from a single leaf and now I have 4 of them each about 4+ inches tall. 2 of them are branching and I have never pinched them back.

I have quite a few. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and received a lot of baskets. I split them up and as I cared for her, I also cared for the plants. It gave us something to enjoy together as she was dying.

When she died in 2006, I received more baskets with plants in it. Most of these are still growing with those ones that I had growing "for her" through her illness. I received 1 african violet, a parlor palm, 2 kinds of prayer plants, 2 kinds of arrowhead plants (white and pink), and a velvet leaf philo.

I also have cuttings taken from the flowerbaskets from my husband's grandfather, and have them growing, pothos and philos. He died in 2003 and I took the cuttings from my mother-in-law's plants.

Keeping those plants going really helped my mother and I out as she was getting sicker. She enjoyed seeing the green. I had taken some cuttings of forsythia and forced them to bloom in the house so she could see the forsythia bloom one more time....She died before her bushes outside could bloom again. I was glad to have made that small thing happen for her.

I have a Love Garden from my Sons funeral. We received over 150 HUGE tropicals (here they can grow outside all year with minimal covering on very cold days). I also have several cuttings from a friends funeral. My husband brought home a "never die" plant (not sure of the real name but I was told it is some kind of sedum) that his aunt had grown from cuttings of a plant from his Grandmother who passed in the 70's. As a Christmas gift to all of the grandchildren she (Aunt) started plants from the cuttings. The plants that come to us like that I think are very special and bring good memories also.
