Houzz Tour: Vintage-Modern Studio in Sweden
An apartment of thoughtfully curated flea market finds, inherited pieces and plentiful natural light works hard for a creative professional
Hilda Grahnat's midcentury modern studio is a haven of vintage finds and inherited decor pieces. There's nothing cluttered about the studio, where the photographer, blogger and designer has managed to collect tchotchkes, beautiful furniture and artwork in a design-conscious way. The result is a home that doesn't take itself too seriously by appearing too stylized — and one that works extra hard for Grahnat by fitting a sleeping, working and sitting area in one small space.

The big windows and light streaming into the kitchen are one of the main draws of the studio, which is one of many units in a "boring brick apartment," as Grahnat describes it, that was built in the '70s.
The warm wood tone of the Danish teak drawers quiets any busyness that the tabletop decor's primary colors might otherwise create. When Grahnat gets tired of a particular grouping or vignette, she simply switches them out with another.
"This is my first apartment," she says. "I love doing everything my way."
