OMGoodness, what a find

During my lunch today I swung by the Habitat for Humanity, "Restore" (I call it the Rehab), any way I have been looking for windows and doors to build a lean to greenhouse. They had 2 triple windows, but wanted $150.00 a piece.Whew! I noticed a pile of wood windows and doors on the side and he said nobody would use them in thier house and they were free. After a quick phone call to DH he met me and we loaded 16 windows and 2 doors (the kind that jeannie used for her arbor). I only need a few more things now. I have the best DH ever, he loaded all that in his dress clothes with a minimum of grumbleing. I will post pics later when we get started,lots of work ahead, but it was meant to be.

So I started playing with the Lucite a bit after getting it separated in shapes. I've had this bowl for years, and never knew what to do with it. It measures 22 inches across, and is 1/2 thick. Start of what looks like a moth or butterfly of some sort. Thank you all for your ideas, and comments.

My house had so much wallpaper when we bought it -- just about everywhere but the LR, DR and foyer. All rose, wine and green, lots of florals and some faded. The DR was painted over a rose floral -- in rose paint. I have 2 baths upstairs that have new wallpaper and that's it. Didn't think I would want wallpaper ever again -- and now it's making a comeback. I may be helping my sister with some projects on her house, and it may include some wallpaper. I bet she'd like that one above. too.

Robo, re small linen cabinet for bathroom - I have a small country style "jelly cabinet" for storage in my bathroom. I am planning a BR remodel and it is just going to be too country looking for my new look, but I also will be on the lookout for something different. Mine is a country pine with cutesy little heart cutouts with chicken wire :). I have actually thought about painting it and have a woodworker change the hearts to perhaps a diamond shape...hoping it might look more cottage looking. It just fits so well. Check in small "gift shop" type stores - that is where I see small, unique pieces.

The company is Amish and they don’t answer the phone. Leave a message and we will call you back. Very frustrating to work with, but this is our third time purchasing from them and we have never had a problem before. We chose this baseboard because is what we are putting in the living area, except it is oak. When I called the company about a solution, they sent me a picture of baseboard intentionally cut to be thicker than the casing. I asked them about plinth blocks and they have them for $7 each. I need 34 blocks. Plus the carpenter’s labor. Of course since it we be painted, we can go with a local box store. Or, if we had each piece back cut, it additional carpenter’s labor again. I get it, it is the price I will pay now. So, my question, should I push the issue and would it be difficult for them to plane down the back?

How lucky you are!
Lots of things can be made with that many. My DH was great to haul and carry for me too. I miss that!!!

How wonderful! I love deals like that. I used mine on my garden room. I have extra for my greenhouse, still in the planning stage. I picked up 33 windows for 30 bucks on the E. Yehawww

I'd hafta sneak em home when DH was at work....then start making a "mess"(hammering/sawing/swearing/crying) with them somewhere in the yard, for DH to come running over and "help"!lol! He is getting a bit better...but it's taken a few yrs!!! So Good SCORE!!! And for sure: A BIG hug for Hubby!!!

its shocking what people will toss. i was coming back from the beach last saturday and saw some scrapbooking stuff on the curbside. (i am an avid scrapper) i whipped over and got as much as i could and sent my son after the rest. we are talking brand new, still in the package scrap stuff! but the mother of all things i dug out of those black trash bags was a brand new, still in the box, never removed from the plastic, brand new slicer/shredder attachment for my kitchen aid mixer. well, my heart must be good b/c i'd certainly have died from all the excitement!

What a great DH and what a great deal! I love having a junkin' buddy. My Bob and I drove by a house we are interested in. We couldn't stop on the road in front of it because it is a highway with no parking lane. So I drove around to the back through the alley so we could look at it. What was the first thing my Bob did? Go looking through the garbage! No one lives in the house so we didn't have to worry about getting yelled at. Bob was telling me all the new things they must have installed in the house. lol! He took some scrap pieces of copper piping and I took an old painted wooden chair with lots of character. Some day when I have a yard, I'd love to plant that chair. Give your DH a big hug and smooch from the rest of us!
