Hey, Look what I found! Uhmm...what did I find?

Found 2 3 lb. bags of these pieces of Lucite at the TS, and could not resist.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should use them for mosaic, or what. Ideas? Thoughts? Anyone know the possible origin of these pieces?

Those are so funky!! I bet someone here who is more creative than me will peak your ideas!! I only do outside art so don't know if it would hold up or fade...should do an experiment...anyhoo, Good Score!!!

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for taking the time to post your pictures! As both us Jodi's feel, it will help many to understand the process better. :-) 'Size does matter!' ;-) A little more info about the one I posted . Al, your right about the easy handling. I'm mixing in small batches right now, so it's perfect! Next season, I want screens like yours! So thank you for posting the 'blue prints' for hubby. ;-) This one will be easy for my son too. He's anxious to make his own mixes! Which he should, he has tons of plants and cactus and succulents! Mine is 13" long, 9 wide, and about 5" deep. Not alot of room for it to slosh out. ;-) lol.. I was going to order bonsai screens , but the plants went crazy leafing out! I'm going to see about getting a flat in the next day or so for the 1/4" bark. And for now, I have a huge chunk of 1/2" i'm just using as is, for the 5-1-1 mix. For the 1/16", a kitchen strainer, but I may take insect screen and see about molding it to the inside of the new colander. It would be easier to hold. I have all the sizes of wire, but hubby doesn't have time to make the frames like Al uses, and it would take me a month to find the tools! Hubby let the shed get a little messy. ;-) So, for now, it's find simple ways. :-) JoJo

Rita and Val, Buttered Popcorn has really been a standout this season. Jean, I'm sure your B. Popcorn has suffered because of the drought. That's what happened to ours last year, hardly did anything, but you see how it responds with rain and cooler temps. Hey Terri I'm reporting back...used it more as a 'saute' sauce since I had skinless/boneless breasts, but I think this has potential as a baste for grilled chicken skewers. Three of us liked it.... AnnT will love this, DS #2 says 'mom, I don't like sweet with my meat'. He's on the next plane to Canada.

Some of them look lke they could have been 'blanks' for hair accessories. What a FABULOUS find!! I seriously doubt the colors would hold up outdoors, but they'd be WONDERFUL for indoor pieces! Such color and dynamic movement! If they turn up missing, DO NOT come looking in TX!! LOL!!

So I started playing with the Lucite a bit after getting it separated in shapes.

I've had this bowl for years, and never knew what to do with it. It measures 22 inches across, and is 1/2 thick.

Start of what looks like a moth or butterfly of some sort.

Oh, you lucky lady. What a great addition to your stash. You can just incorporate the pieces into any mosaiced project, but I love that moth idea. Very creative. What a great find.

Very cool stuff, looks kind of like what I did on my chimney top. I'd guess they might be blanks for earrings? I really like the clear pieces especially myself.

Your moth/BF photo didn't show up. Sure would like to see it :)
