Wish I could help with your question but I am sure someone will jump in. BUT YES! I wanted to give everyone I know a plant to spread the love but then I thought of all the untimely deaths (the plants, not the people hopefully) that would likely occur. Maybe best not to share the love afterall.

Thanks for being honest Lori. I'm not sure what is up and if I should transplant them. I know that they like to be rootbound a little, but not sure if the roots coming out the drainage holes means it's time to move em up a sized pot.

I'd say roots through the drainage holes means it's time to move up a size. Normally this would be to a 6-inch pot, but if you can find a 5-inch instead, I'd recommend that. 6 would work, but for some reason the 4 to 6 jump seems to be more traumatic than 3 to 4, or 6 to 8.

I wouldn't worry about waiting until the one that's blooming stops, myself. Spathiphyllum, in my experience, handle repotting pretty well. Waiting won't hurt anything either, though, obviously.

Care should be the same for any hybrid: water at the first slight sign of droopiness, and humidity, light, and temperature are pretty much whatever you like, though higher humidity, at least during the winter, is probably worth trying to get if you can do so easily. Watering is the tricky part: if you can get that down, the rest is simple.

I didn't want to repot too soon, but never found any other clarifiation about the roots coming out the drainage holes. I appreciate it and will see if I can find any 5" pots. I agree, those 6" ones just seem to be sooo big and roomy by comparison.

I buy the peace lilies in 3 and 4" pots, and often have planted 2 together in a 6" pot. I have certainly noticed that the 6" pot is so much larger than 4" but have never seen a 5" pot. Anyway, my "peaces" lol have flourished being potted up in a larger size, with 2 in the same pot. They have grown much larger and have bloomed.....and in this time of year to boot.
So, just my observation, but you can feel confident potting-up this time of year, Stacy.

I thought about doing that also, but like them separated (plus if 1 dies they both don't die this way hehehe). I did break down and pot them up into 6" pots today and with how rootbound they were, I'm sure it won't take long for them to fill out the bottoms. They look quite nice in the pots and don't look like they need much to "grow into their new shoes" so to speak.

Normally we advise plants not be divided or re-potted until they are actively growing.
Your little guys I'm sure are doing splendidly and so could probably do very well if transplanted right now.

I don't know if you wish to keep the three as indivuduals or wish to put them together in one larger pot but I suggest a 6" pot is sufficient to let the plants grow as they can without putting too much stress on them deriving nourishment from a bigger pot.

They like bright...but not direct sunlight and can tolerate less. They like to be given frequent watering --as long they drain well and a higher humidity.

Since you are undoubtedly going to change their soil when you transplant, you can buy soil that is in their pots at the present time. Called a fibrous potting mix and is widely available.

Since you have them in a southern exposure and with the lower light intensity at this time, I don't think it would harm them to give a bit more direct light....due to their size though, I wouldn't give them too direct the sun.
And don't let them touch the window glass...its cold out there.

Well, I did transplant the 2 that had their roots coming out the drainage holes. One was flowering, and the other has started to flower now that I've moved it into a larger pot.

The third one wasn't as root bound, so I have not transplanted that one yet. Thank you for all your help, but these guys are getting bright morning sunlight, don't touch the windows and are enjoying their home amongst the other plants in the window vicinity.

I don't water them "on a schedule" they are checked daily and watered as needed.

Stacy, all 3 PL's are the same? Wouldn't it have looked nice w/all 3 planted in one pot??? I prefer fuller plants, but it's a matter of choice...
Because space is an issue here, I've been planting 3-5 plants, the same family, in a big pot.
Before Frank's Nursery closed, I picked up several 12" clay, shallow pots w/drainage..This way it saves on space, and since each plant works well together, (in other words, I don't pot a cactus and dracaena in the same container) it saves on space, and instead of a zillion trips when they go outside, it's only one per pot..Good luck w/your new PL's, and Happy Holidays...Toni
