reflective plastic for high brix on peaches

Half way through the peach harvest it's already clear that the exceptionally rainey first half of summer has really damaged peach quality here as far as sugar. Doesn't matter how big and juicey it is, a peach without adequate sugar is a complete waste.

As soon as the weather seemed to be heading to exceptionally wet I stopped mowing under my fruit trees hoping the tall grass and weeds would pull out surplus water. That doesn't appear to have helped much. I guess inadequate light and/or heat is the main issue.

Nectarines and plums have been fine- at least those varieties resistant to cracking. Earnie's choice and Coralstar are good but not as good as usual. Redhaven and Johnboy (an early sport of Loring) have been mostly useless.

The later peaches are getting better but I wonder if I couldn't have compensated for the grey weather by using the white reflective plastic to help increase light. Anyone out there use this stuff for peaches?
