Is a green trunk a sign of good or bad

I have what my nursery calls a desert rose. Beautiful rose flowers on what looks like a bulbous trunk turning slender and carrying few leaves. Frost warnings tonight so I brought it in and noticed that the whole trunk is really green where it has always been brown. Is this a sign of stress, or just that it has had a good time in the sun? More rain than usual this summer which I wondered about as I thought it was more of a succulent, maybe I'm wrong. Have had it for a few years, but can never find any info on it. If anyone has a clue about what plant I'm talking about, would appreciate any information. Thanks
