I got a bike! Check it out.

We have a local call in radio show to buy & sell stuff so I called in asking for an old rusty bike for the garden. I got 3 calls with people that had them. I picked this one up on my way home from work, I'll be checking the others out too since I have friends who want them. This one wasn't rusty :( but it did come with all the baskets all ready to plant in!

Here's my new addition to the gardens, best part it was free! Now Im curious to see the other ones, they might be just what Im looking for.

Hey, that is pretty cool to get one already with all the baskets. I like the pretty blue color too.

It may stay in the spot it's in but positioned better for this year. I wanted to put it behind the garage but we have decking material piled up there right now.

Im trying to decide what to plant in it and what to line the baskets with so the soil stays in.

Now keep an eye out for more each time you water and be sure to check the area where you plants are because there can be egg cases on pots, shelves etc. New growth is where you will find the newly hatched mealies so watch for them while they are still small. As long as you keep spraying at the first sign of a problem they should not get out of hand. If you have any larger plants that you can't move to water, spray and inspect be extra vigilant about checking for mealies that may be hiding. Like Denise always recommends it is good to connect with your plants each time you water them, look them over for any problems and catch them early. Mike

Cleo26, I was outside one day in Nov. looking in the garage at a new washer sitting there "worthless", I was very upset seeing it, not wanting to sell it to someone and passing on the problem, so I decided to call them one more time, I asked to talk to a manager again and explained the whole thing to them and she said "well I am going to have to send someone out to see what the problem is", I told her NO that was not possible because it is now in the garage and has been since Sept. she insisted that someone needed to come out and check it, I just kept being very persistent and kept telling her No that was not going to happen, I told her about the SQ set that I got to replace it and I explained how I haven't had a problem with them, so I know that it is the model 9200! I asked for a refund, she put me on hold and then she said that she would send it to the review board. The next day I got a phone call and they said they would send me a check. But it took a while. I actually got a phone call from her the 2nd week of Dec. she asked if I had got my check yet, I told her no, so she investigated it. I ended up with a phone call on Dec.19 from the company that came and picked it up and gave me my check. You just have to let them know that it's not exceptable, when you pay $1000.00 for a washer, you expect it to wash your clothes. It was a very long and painful process to go through, but it was worth the fight. I hope that anyone else going thru similar problems with any brand washing machine, take charge of the issue and don't let them tell you that they can't do anything for you. Because they can and will! you just have to hang in there and don't give up. I almost did.

I am happy I found this old thread. I just received and IRS check yesterday and also am concerned. It is addressed to me with my deceased mothers name under mine and in the corner it says Soc sec for Ins. I have on idea what this is, was hoping someone here may have had a similar story.

Snowbunny, when I first read your msg topic heading all I could think of was - here's Snowbunny, got a new GJ bike and she's riding it around like a little kid saying: "Hey, look at my bike, look at my bike, check it out!!!!" COOL. It's a great bike for the garden, and I'm anxious to see pics of the other two also. The peat moss for the basket lining is a great idea, you can fill up the sides with it. You could also use a cocoa basket, they come in various sizes now, even cone shaped.

LOL Craftylady! It does kinda sound that way doesn't it? Im hoping to pick the other 2 up tonight, I can't wait! I've been thinking of using the moss too for the baskets. I'll see if the greenhouse I plan on stopping at has any. Im thinking of planting wave petunias in it I think.

If you really want it to look rusty...You can spray paint it with brown primer. That's what I did to my old stone grinder...I sometimes forget I painted it.

I picked up another one tonight. This one is rusty and in rough shape but it's still cool. I saw a whole bunch more some pretty old ones with some cool character but I couldn't make a decision on any of those and Im not sure what I'll do with 2 of them.

Hi, I've been lurking for a while, but had to say I scored a bike last year at the city wide garage sales for free!
The tires were flat, so I cut slits in them and filled them with expandable foam; when it cured the tires were (almost) good as new. I line the basket with an old gunny sack I found in the road ditch, and that keeps the soil right where it should be, and drapes elegantly over the edge as well.
