Oh boy - You are so not alone. Winter hasn't even barely started and I'm looking out the window and wishing I could just have it warm enough to mow the lawn again!

I've been pouting about winter too, but have been trying to put a positive spin on it by working on my compost. Shredded news paper until I was bored. Been begging every business and household I know for their used coffee grounds.

Well, I just bought myself a new tiller tonight. That makes 3 now. A new rear tine, front tine and a mini. Two chipper/shredders, and about a foot of ice, snow and sleet on ground. the Temp is on the way up to low 30s tonight then back down to 6 tommorrow night, then up to 50 by Sat. So go figure

I miss the growing season too; but I take advantage of this time of year to do some sewing, reading, and crafts. I also review new plants and growing tips and make plans for the coming spring's garden.

I looked out at my barren garden covered with snow, uncommon for my area, and didn't see a ripe tomato. Come to think of it I didn't see a ripe tomato this past summer either as we had nightime temperatures down in the low 30s in July this year.Oh well! There is always next year even for those of us in our 70s.

5 months before you can eat your fresh veggies??!!!?? It will be 5 months before I can PLANT mine.

After a freak rain yesterday and temperatures in the high 30's we only have 2 feet of snow on the ground...except where it is drifted. Today I slogged through some thigh deep stuff to get to my sage in the hopes there was enough for my turkey stuffing under the snow. The rabbits left me quite a bit but I still need to use some of the little I have dried. Ah well.

sigh....Mama had to be a Yankee. But once the kids get through college, hubby and I are heading south! We are both sincerely sick of 6 month winters!

Zone 5 is depressing!! We are not only out in the country but up on a hill so the wind is crazy. I am 5'6" and we have drifts to my chest. I know I had a garden plotted but for the life of me can't remember where! Kidding it is just hidden by the snow. The only thing keeping me sane is planning for next year and ignoring the windows.

Hi Great Picture, I like your peppers and along with the french marigolds i see some lambs or Lion ears in the back ground, Since my illness I have beedn off setting my garden with growing several quart jars of sprouts. I have about 4 months before I can start my salad greens and two more months before I can get the rest in like Tomatoes,sweet and hot peppers Orka, green snap and some soybeans oh yes and some nice watermelons and plenty of potatoes and yams I may try and get some purple yams this year just for something different.

Learn to like collards and kale. They will keep trucking through the winter as far north as zone 6.
