Thank you all....it will take some time for me to get over this. You are all right, one would assume that a parent would feed the babies well enough before fledging for them to make it through the process or surly see that they were failing and needed to be fed a few more times to make it up to the sky. I have been over and over this in my head, I have so many questions that I know nobody will have the answers to. The first being how does a Tres get hit by a car on a nearly no traffice rural road, then it all snowballs from there. I am sure everybody feels this way wether it be a HOSP a HOWR, a racoon, ants, snake, poisioning or cat, it HURTS to lose one of our birds and to know it suffered and to think there MAY have been something more you could have done. I guess I should consider myself very lucky to have this be my first loss in 5 years. Thank you all again, nobody but you guys would really understand this heartache.

Kate--Honestly, the sealer on my marble is doing a great job. No stains! We have polished on the perimeter cabs and honed on the island. There are a couple of tiny pitted parts on the island that, to my hyper-critical eye--seem to be a bit discolored, but everywhere else the sealer is kicking ass! SJMitch--The sink is a custom job in Belvedere soapstone from M. Teixeira. This is the second sink I had made by them (we had a 40" Cobra in our last kitchen) and, as I've posted elsewhere, am really happy with their work. The sink is counter depth--meaning 25" from apron to wall-- and 9 & 3/4" deep (exterior measurement). One 40" bowl and one 20" bowl. LOVE it! Makes cleaning up for a slob like me much better. Just pile all those dirty pots and pans and rags in the big bowl and I still have the small bowl free for...more cooking! Belvedere was not my first choice in stone (would have love something light like Python) but it is the hardest *and* the cheapest. I think it looks great with the carrara counters and white tile with gray grout. While some people are like, "Whoa, girl. What you doing with such a big sink?" We are going through some of this with DS and DIL who married last year. DIL, seemingly overnight, decided she did not like us before they became engaged. There were some tribulations over the wedding plans and I felt she was rude and disrespectful on more than one occasion. My son would always come over alone, unless it was a holiday or special occasion. Then there is the issue of holidays.....they revolve around her parents and their schedule. I did expect this but not quite to such an extent. The year before last we were told that they could only stop by for about an hour or two xmas eve day in the afternoon for appetizers. Well, I had not planned on doing afternoon appetizers but I did anyway.....and then everyone was too full for dinner. I was not happy having spent the day preparing food. (They spent xmas eve and all of xmas day with her folks). So, this year I took a different tack. I say...this is what we are doing and when and we'd love it if you can join us. If it fits into their schedule, great. If it doesn't, that's ok too. I've just let it go. All last year, when we would see DIL I was cordial but kept my distance after having tried on several occasions to forge a better relationship with her and getting nowhere. Well, she is slowly becoming more pleasant with us. Don't know where her new attitude came from! She just had a surprise bday party for DS and I helped with alot of the stuff and she thanked me profusely...so I am hoping we are turning a corner....but not holding my breath. But, to answer OP, let it go. You may feel disappointed from time to time but it's not going to make for a happy family by making them feel guilty when they don't want to or can't participate. As others have suggested, ask them to get together another day or weekend....it's still several weeks away. Maybe they just want to start some of their own traditions. You need to be cordial and polite to D's IL.....but you don't need to be close.
