I just have to laugh .. I made a stack of "tipsy pots"

in front of my house . It's been 3 years now and people are STILL stopping to look at them - or come to the door and ask how I made them !!! I just happened to see one lady park in front of my house today - get out - run up to my pots and make mental notes. I just had to laugh ! The best one was when 2 sisters came to my door , asked if I could show them how I made them . One sister was visiting from out of state and before she left for home - she made her sis stop and ask me. They were so much fun - I had a blast showing them around my junk and revealing "my secrets" ! I never laughed so hard - they were so sweet !

That does it ..... now more than ever I want to be the "junkiest" house on the block ! LOLOLLL

I'd love to be known as "that house on Chicago Ave with all the "stuff" ......... ~~ LOL

I already am the junkiest yard and the neighbors next door, with their pristine, landscaped and 'measured to the inch' lawn...absolutely hate me!
they turn me in...
the county comes out...walk around...comment...leave....
until the next time.....
they've turned me in 3 times.

this past weekend, the girlfriend and I got into a "verbal debate"
...it was NOT pleasant...
I yelled at her "you only wish you could live as free as I do!"
well, she didn't agree...lol

today, she was drunk...again... and was nice as pie....

I don't make a good "bad neighbor"....lol

now, all I day dream about, is gathering about 5 (gotta have an unequal number) of porcelain toilets ...and plant some meandering plants in them...all along the driveway.....
and aluminum twirly things, to attach to the fence...and, and......I just HAVE to find a pink flamingo! or 3.....

but I gotta say...the tipsy pots are great and they really are a show stopper...
if I make any of them..they'll be on the far other side of the property...so other neighbors will see them.

Toomuch, it does my heart good to have people ask about my stuff and how I made a certain piece. I'm glad that people have been admiring your tipsies. Be proud gal.

super job on the raised vegetable beds...i am getting ready to do another one but this one is big and have to haul about 8 tons of processed top soil first and then i'm going to do mine like yours just a little different design with the boxes...my goes across my yard so i am going to put a fence across there with a arch and a growing vine and inside a sitting bench with a trellis over and then put some flowers in it. i am going to have three long square one's and a octagon one in the middle. and then mulch the area like you did...here is where i got my idea, just scroll down about four posters and there are tons of pictures the two i loved is the one with the trellis and the one with the poles with flowers in it...both look like a flower bed. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/cornucop/msg0419470025521.html

I prefer to believe in the Knight in White....... I have had some pretty weird things given me by 'secret admirers'. Most of which were appreciated and you'd understand if you knew the stories behind them. An envelope with four hundred dollars in it taped to my fridge, by an ex-husband. Just because he was moved to. Just so happened I was running very short that month, due to some car and appliance problems. It was a Godsend. A head of cabbage. An engine overhaul on my old Chrysler New Yorker. A stuffed baby alligator. I was really put off by that one. Hideous. Another of my ex husbands got me a twenty two rifle and a garbage can for Christmas. Actually I was thrilled with the rifle and don't remember what I ever did with it. He ran out and put a bunch of cans on a fence, thinking he'd end up showing me how to shoot. roflmao. I grew into adulthood with a twenty two tucked under my pits. I plinked every one of the cans. He said something like even a pig in a poke and went off in a huff. I think I gave him the garbage can when I kicked him out. It doesn't always have to be flowers, LOL.

Young GS disappear quickly, just like the best bulbs of the season!! Three of the four little darlings are slated for adoption to their new families!! Thank you Blueflax for passing this along...your friend's house won't be empty for long. Now little Kirby is the last of the bunch, but again...no rush. He was sprung from the pound and is recovering from kennel cough and being neutered. He'll land in the perfect home soon!!! :-) Kristi (Stormy and Laka too!)

Gwynne, I don't know if I had RA's here last year or not, being that I was new to butterflies and didn't know one from another until later in the summer. I did have one here this year but haven't seen it here for a good month, maybe even two. I have what I think is false nettle coming up in places but didn't notice any eggs. Of course, I didn't go looking through all of the plants either. I've never seen a Mourning Cloak here either. I've never really had much luck with trying to attract any of those rotting-fruit butterflies, i.e. MC, QM, EC, HE...I saw the RA on it a few times. I have real good luck attracting blowflies and yellowjackets though. I get a lot of Tiger Swallowtails here too. I'd love to know where they're laying their eggs. We live next to a big woods, so it would be a real challenge to try to find where they're coming from. I also get pretty many Great Spangled Fritillaries, but I don't have as many as I did last year. Of course, I have lots of Monarchs. I have yet to see any Viceroys at all. There are lots of different butterflies that I'd like to be able to get at my place, but I guess that will be up to them. I want to fix tipsy pots for my mom's flower bed. I'm just having problems finding a big enough base to start with. I no I don't need one but I like the looks of a bigger base then the pots...

There's a lot in favor of being eccentric. I have a book somewhere that was written about eccentric people being happier and healthier. Some wild stories. Toomuch glass you are an artist though and that's why people want to know how you do it.
Occassionally I have plants that are show stoppers. One day some women were on my lawn having their picture taken in frontof my crown imperials! Turned out that they used to live here. I wish I'd gotten their address cuz since then I've found a bunch of old orphan photos in the attic of the garage. So far no one's asked about my junk. Oh well.

strawberry, do you have a fence near them? Put some long nails on your fence and put some blue bottles on it. Or make yourself a bottle tree there. When she asks what it is...tell her it is to catch evil spirits that come your way. I am sure if the county comes out again and you tell them why they are there, they will laugh. Heck, religious freedom and all that...lol.

I have a new neighbor down the road who was an old counseller of mine, and he comes by 1x a month to get inspiration for his yard and his artistic ideas!!! It's so amazing to have someone I looked to for advice...getting it from me now!!!lol!

Strawberry, I feel that you've got what it takes to handle those judgmental, intolerant, nosey neighbors!!! LOL Good ides Twomonths - the bottle tree at the border for those evil spirits. By granny, this is America, and they need to get over it!

CalamityJ that sounds like a scene from HBO's "In Therapy" LOL. It is actually quite a compliment for yourself!

This has been fun reading about fellow garden junkers. I know most of my friends just shake their head in wonderment when I share my last creation. My husband is very kind and just let's me do my thing....even helps me find treasures to add. Wonder what my neighbors think of my yard...never thought about it before...hahaha

Okay now I need to see what "Tipsy Pots" are so please someone post a pic.

Neighbors, yeah they can be fun eh? I bet some of my neighbors think my place is crazy...An old Dollhouse type of house with a bunch of cement rabbits, frogs, gnomes and birdfeeders etc. Some folks say they think my house is cute. I have had a lot of compliments on the Bougainvillea I trained over a trellis at the front of my side garden path. The little kids always like my house.

The neighbor calls the County on what premise....what actually don't they like?

Glad this was bumped up...toomuchglass has lots of cool GJ ideas!

I planted my "tipsy pots" today, too...actually it's "tipsy buckets" ....will post pics in a few weeks after the plants take off ...I planted blue lobelia, Dusty Miller & Wave Petunias this yr...takes lots of watering but worth the effort! Here's last yr's pic:
