I have one that's in a small 3"-4" pot and it's about 7"-8" tall.
If you know for sure they ARE rotten at the base, you can cut the roots and part of the stem off if you need to up into the healthy tissue, a little bit past the rot and try rooting them again.
Use a "small pot" and good drainage.
I like to use Perlite mixed in with the soil of most all my plants.
Water once and let the soil dry before giving it anymore.
Keep the rooting plants in indirect bright light and they should re-root within 7-10 days, as long as they aren't over-watered or let to stay dry past a day or two.

Do you think it would be best just rooting them in all perlite, or would you think soil and perlite and if so how much perlite to how much soil? Thanks for answering my post.

I myself would root them in soil and perlite, never had any problems before doing it that way. I never rooted them in just perlite before, but that could work ok too. Good drainage and a small pot is the key.
I used a small clay pot at first, 2.5" to re-root the stem in, but a plastic one is ok too.

It's not scientific, but I use a cereal size bowl and fill it halfway or a little more with houseplant soil, then a handful to a handful and a half of "perlite" Any soil leftover I'll just dump it out into another plant.

I took my plants out of the pots and really examined them. All the stems were rotten and the leaves were rotten part way up, so I cut all the bad part off. I had very little perlite so I mixed about 3/4 perlite and 1/4 vermiculite and very little moisture. Stuck all 15 leaves in it and hope for the best. I still do have the one single plant and I will use your advice on that. I am sure what happened is that I overwatered the plant and it seems to be a low water user.
Kind of makes me mad because it was so beautiful.
Maybe I should put a clear plastic bag around each of the two small pots I have these leaves in to hold the humidity for them? Thanks so much for advice.

Trail, since there's possible rot on the Moses cutting, I'd hold off on the plastic..by doing so, the soil is bound to stay constantly wet, something you don't want happening.
Yep, I agree, the Moses (Rhoeo) soil should dry out.
I have both types of Moses, the green w/purple and variegated, yet I feel the variegated is more difficult caring for. Give it plenty of light, and let soil dry before watering.
Until it is stablized, I wouldn't apply fertilizer..If you use Superthrive, apply that instead.
Variegated Moses (Oyster Plants) are beautiful plants,..they are slower growers than their non-variegated cousins and require a bit more work. Good luck, Toni
PS, maybe when plant roots, you should plant in a clay pot.

Thanks for the advice about the clay pot. I will plant the other Moses in the Cradle in one. That is a good idea.
