slime mold, best I can surmise: ...l'il help?
Comments (11)first.. NEVER USE A CHEMICAL UNTIL YOU ID THE PROBLEM.. AND VERIFY THAT THE CHEMICAL IS RATED FOR THE PROBLEM... its a waste of money .. and dangerous ... second... why destroy part of mother natures garden show.... that was a free plant... you should have reveled in it .. for its own beauty ... is a plant only good for your garden.. if you pay for it???? it is either there because of your watering techniques or the mulch ... if in fact it is a slime mold .... research the slime mold.. and find out why its there.. if it is too much water ... or improper drainage ... then all you need do is to change how you water.. to make it not reappear ... in other words.. there never was a need for the chemicals ... please ... learn to enjoy a 'free' plant in your garden ... mushrooms are my favorite .... growwing on some long dead tree root.. pop up here or there... i used to be like you .... running out and getting rid of them because they interfered with my garden .. then i took a zen attitude about it all .. and come to find out.. they are cool ... and that is what i would think about the slime mold... did you actually get down on your belly and study it ... its probably really cool ... good luck ken...See MoreNeighbor's Trumpet Vines taking over my yard
Comments (18)Why not kill the vine with kindness? Fill jars with dilute Roundup solution (3 parts water, I part Roundup), place ends of vines in the jars through holes in the lids and seal the jars by twisting the jar, not the lid. The jars can be hidden by shrubs or other vegetation. The vines will gladly take up the Roundup/water solution and be grateful for the additional water. Top off the solution in the jars as needed with additional solution as the vines take in the water and transport the roundup into their roots. Next year, the vines will be very unhealthy if they even survive the winter. Repeat the second year if necessary. All the roots are probably interconnected, so all parts of the vine in your yard and the neighborâÂÂs yard will eventually die. Commiserate with the neighbors when they express sadness over the unexplained death of their beloved vine....See MoreMy house on FSBO site - take a look - gulp!
Comments (39)I think the house has many things going for it. Newer home, geothermal heat, low utilities, oversized garage, lots of acreage, and space between the neighbors. Here are my thoughts on what might help. The outside needs bushes or plants. There isn't a path to the front door. I'd position a couple of large planters on each side of the front door to direct people's attention to the entrance. Plant some flowers along the front of the house so you will have bright spring flowers blooming once the weather warms up a little more. The inside looks alright but it needs a little warmth as well. I'd re-arrange the living room. The TV looks off balance sharing the table with the lamp. I'd move the table lamp next to the couch and put the floor lamp on the other side of the TV, next to the fireplace. Put the chair on the other side. I would definitely put something on the dining room table. Flowers or a bowl of fruit? How about a slightly larger rug under the table? Something that matches the chairs. Same with the kitchen counter. Home buyer's look for the most bang for their buck in the kitchen and bath. Make these look expensive and you will be more likely to get your asking price. I can't tell what is along the tops of the kitchen cabinets, but it looks like some type of autumn colored fake foliage. Can you replace this with something more alive and vibrant? Perhaps dark green colored foliage or large, attractive wooden bowls, etc. No patterns or anything too busy. You might consider getting some matching towels to go with the shower curtain in the bathroom. Dressier shower curtain hooks (silver) would make that grey/green counter pop. Replace that green soap dispenser with something that isn't plastic. A dish of decorative soaps and some nice hand towels neatly stacked next to the sink? I don't care for the flowers(?) hanging from the shower curtain above the toilet. Once again, the plastic. There is one way to brighten up the pics without waiting for a sunny day. Have someone stand behind you with a spotlight (buy at an auto parts store) and point it in the direction where you are taking pics. I agree with Feedingfrenzy: "I think your target market should be hobby farmers, horse enthusiatics, wannabe kennel owners, young retireees, etc." I would be inclined to try and target this market as well as those who work from home. Artists, writers, computer programmers. Is there a Penny Saver publication in your area? I'd put ads in newspapers in neighboring states as well. Especially Colorado. Comments (15)We're ready to find a 12 step program for the webkinz over at our place as well. I used to think they were Crack for kids, but recently confirmed that its more like Mary Jane ,the gateway drug, that lead to much worse things...like the insanely priced Webkinz Meth Trading Cards: 4 for $4 or the Webkinz body splash perfume for 5 year olds. On a positive note, the Wheel of Wow and Wishing Well gets them introduced to the concept of gambling at such a young age and is supplemented with subliminal "eat your veggies" advertisements at the same time. Like any kid with a wheel of wow crack high can relax enough to take in the positive affirmations that are merely interupting the gaming experience. Don't dare try to explain any of the arcade games to your kid or you'll quickly get creeped out when going head to head in checkers and find yourself getting whipped in 3 moves by some white poodle named DON. (I won't even go there....) I think I'm going to start a DARE program aimed at webkinz. Just say No! :)...See Morepetrushka (7b)
