Please ID plant that is taking over my yard
Comments (6)Haha, I was just about to say, I'd love to take any throw-aways off of your hands, ncangie! It looks like it may prefer to have a little more shade than it's getting, these usually grow on moist slopes and as an understory planting where they get bright early season light before the trees leaf out after which they provide protection from more intense summer heat/sun....See Moredichondra taking over my back yard!
Comments (3)I'm going to bump this post because I'm having a problem with the dreaded dichondra spreading in my cavalier zoysia. I know it's not a hardy weed by any means and that it does not benefit from deep, infrequent waterings. In addition, I know some people don't consider it a weed but those weirdos live in California for a reason. LOL.\\ Anyway, the stuff just started sprouting up all over about a week ago (when I started watering in some new sterile soil dressing)- the zoysia is still mostly winter dormant and some of the dichondra (not alot) was there last summer. It's really on a growing spurt and I'm not big on broad-leaf weed killers (chemicals) SO is the only known remedy to water deeply, infrequently and hope the zoysia gets going robustly to crowd/shade out this pesky dichondra weed - and the Texas sun bakes it to a crisp this summer while my hardy zoysia remains intact or only slightly dormant due to the extreme heat?...See Morewhat is this weed? it is taking over my yard

Comments (3)I have a wild Bermuda problem in my fescue lawn and a combination of fluazifop and triclopyr worked to turn the Bermuda brown. I don't think it's dead, not yet anyway, it takes repeat applications, but it's under control. The same should work for you. I suspect the chemicals will travel up the runners and brown out the whole plant, so you might cause some brown spots in his yard close to the border. https://www.amazon.com/Fusilade-Ornamental-Herbicide-Quart-SYN1015/dp/B004HCZ4ZS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468523090&sr=8-1&keywords=fusilade+II https://www.amazon.com/Monteray-LG5518-Monterey-Turflon-Ester/dp/B000UGO51Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468523129&sr=8-1&keywords=turflon+ester Cutting high helps, somewhat....See Moreonesherri
