WOW Kirkus, what a beautiful yard setting, that is darn right gorgeous. Your $5 bench is perfect, love the geometric lines of it. Do I see a babbling brook/river in the background there? How great would that be in your own backyard!!! And, the birdbath, could you please take a closeup pic of that, is it mosasic'd or marlbed stone?

Not a brook...just our gravel driveway coming down the hill to our house. We do have a creek. If you saw my rustic arbor posting, the path leads into the woods and down to our creek. We love living around nature. I will get out in the near future and take a close-up of the birdbath. It's made of stones imbedded in concrete. My family collected colorful pebbles from our hikes and placed them in the bowl of the birdbath. They look so colorful when the birdbath is filled with water. I'm so glad you liked the bench and its setting.

Don't visit here often since I started hanging out on the SG/M side, but have to comment on this beautiful setting. My only suggestion to make it MORE perfect, is to put a chair there for DW to sit w/you and she won't be calling you away from Paradise! Absolutely beautiful place to sit ANYTIME. Some lanterns w/candlelight, a glass of ????? LOVE the whole scene.

How beautiful and peaceful. The birdhouses, flowers, birdbath and rocks all look as if they were there forever. You did a great job at creating a welcoming scene.

That is awesome. I would stay out there all the time too. I love your boulders and all the ground covers are growing perfectly around each stone. The whole scene just says come sit here!!!! Beautiful!!!! I bet it is a wonderful relaxing place(-: Oh and the bench is a super deal too!!!(-:

Wow Kirk! You never cease to amaze me. The bench is to die for as is the setting that it's in. I think that if Mother Nature ever decided to take on an assistant she would pick you !! Your placement of your "Garden Junk" blends in rather than takes center stage. Ya... you two (You and Mother Nature) have a good thing going in the wonderful world of nature. I love seeing what you have done in your little piece of this world. Thanks for sharing.

That is such a gorgeous setting! That bench just seems to nestle down amongst the rocks like he belongs. I too garden for the enjoyment of wildlife and find nothing more soothing then being surrounded by critters,,,,,,,,and some whimsical garden junk!

I had to revisit this post tonight Kirkus, I myself want to go sit back there!!! Please do tell, in the middle of the pic, just a scooch to the left, what is the white spiney plant? Is it fox tail grasses or another type of grass. That sure is pretty.

(YOUR projects on your postings motivate me too!) Living in the country, we don't get many visitors. So thank you for visiting my gardens and sharing in my "junk" finds. (I never call anything junk...it's all a "treasure"!) Your visits remind me of "I Went to a Garden Party" and you were my visitors. THANK YOU! Hi Craftlady...you have a good eye. That is a grass..."Perennial Fountain Grass". I like it because of its color AND the deer don't eat it! Ha! Anxiously awaiting spring, I just ordered several more grasses from a catalog! Luvstocraft, I created the setting from rocks found on (I should say in!) the property. My wife and I had our home built 5 years ago. When the foundation was dug, the motherload of rocks was found. There were so many rocks that I was discouraged at first, but they have become a blessing. We actually hauled away truckloads though. I had the bigger rocks in the picture placed at the time. That BIG rock in the center was a BUGABOO to dig out of the foundation area and then place but I LOVE IT! My 6 year old calls it her THINKING ROCK because she sits on it and thinks! My wife and I placed the smaller rocks. I hope I answered all of your questions. I promise to get a picture posted of that birdbath. Again, thanks for your encouragement. Let's have a garden party...come on out, and we can swap JUNK (TREASURE) stories! You can take turns sitting on my bench! Kirk

Great bench, and the setting is awesome. Don't know what else I can say that hasn't alreay been said. Wish Louisiana had rocks like that.

I sat on my bench today in the early morning sunshine, reading Garden Junk posting follow-ups I had copied on my printer and drinking my morning coffee. Very relaxing...until a squirrel jumped on the back of the bench and seemed to be yelling at me, "What are you doing on MY bench!" LOL

Absolutely peaceful and a wondrous place to be! A place where solitude is welcomed - I am in awe.

I love the rocks and have boulders like that as well. Even though many can't be moved, I cherish them and surround them with gardens. They are great 'backbones'!
