teak bench on white marble

Hello

I have decided to use a free standing bench in my new master bath shower. The shower will be tiled in white marble. Should I be concerned that if I choose a teak bench that there may be some staining on the white marble? There has not been a post on this forum regarding this question so I am wondering if it is a non-issue. I know there are some chrome and vinyl cushion benches available and wonder if this is a better option.

If you really need a bench can you have one built in using your shower tile? It seems that would allow more room inI the shower. Good luck!

I installed an ADA rated bench and it was Ipe (Brazilian walnut) with stainless steel. I would worry about the metal quality first though as they can rust and stain.

This is a great topic. I've been thinking lately about my master bathroom remodel of the future and wondering what I'll do in my shower. I would love to be able to either sit or prop my leg up for shaving. But I also wonder if my shower is too small for any kind of bench. Thanks, Olychick, for the picture and dimensions of your shower and bench. It's incredibly helpful. If you don't mind my asking, can you feasibly fit two into the shower with the bench or does the bench interfere? I'm hoping to steal about 6" of length in my shower which currently can fit two with some minimal elbowing while one person shampoos. I'm concerned that adding a bench will make it impossible. Thanks, writersblock, for posting that Houzz picture. That fold down bench looks much nicer than I'd feared a teak bench might look in a pale colored shower.

Thanks for your comments and help everyone. I am still undecided. I really like the navy blue one best (probably just because it is navy blue). West Elm customer service tells me they can't find out how much weight the end table/maybe stool would hold. I would have to order one and test it out myself (seriously). Here is the link to the one I prefer (but simply may not work). It says the packaging weight is 22 lbs. navy blue possible stool (described as end table) I don't suppose anyone has seen another waterproof stool that is navy in colour? After having seen the navy blue option above, I am having trouble going back to white.

Benjiesbride, I have that very stool and it is fine but I replaced it with a 4 legged stool for stability. 3 legged stools are tippy. I found one at a big box store, like Menards or lowes, etc. it has a gray seat that actually matches my shower pan, and adjustable legs. I think it can hold 300# but would need to check the label. This is a peek of the stool. It looks clinical, lol. But I'm a nurse and I can relate.

I don't think teak would be an issue at all. Redwood or cedar, possibly. But not teak.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to give some feedback.

I prefer the freestanding as opposed to a wall mount or built in. I like the flexibility of a free standing. I will give the teak a try.

I have had a teak seat on top of a crema marfil bench for years in the bathroom. No staining issues at all.

I sand and waterlox the bench once a year. It looks new again :)

We have a freestanding teak shower bench on a very light beige porcelain tile floor and it's been a non-issue. Bathroom is now 2 years old.

We just added a teak bench and it stained the bell out of our grout. I guess the next question is whether it was actually teak.

We have a teak bench in cultured marble shower floor. I have bleached it and used 0000 grit steel wool. It’s lightened a bit but not out. Still searching for something to remove the residual stain as we can see streaks straight from where the legs sit and know it is not rust or iron from the water

I have the fold down bench and it has stained my fiberglass/plastic base. Haven't tried cleaning it yet, but it did stain the floor pan.
