Apricot and plum rootstocks for difficult areas?

chloe_l

I would like to order some apricot and plum trees for next spring, but I don't know what rootstocks to get them on.

My soil floods in the spring, and without irrigation in the summer, is bone dry for 3 months even with a high water table, has many diseases in it such as crown rot, vermin such as root nematodes.

Black cherry, beach plum, and sand cherry are native here and grow without problems. However, neighbours who have planted big-box store stone fruit trees, none of the plants survived.

Any suggestions?
